(PORTLAND) - Portland defenseman Brodie Merrill has been nominated for the Harry Glickman Male Professional Athlete of the Year award.

Other finalists include St. Louis Rams’ Steven Jackson, Chad Johnson of the Cincinnati Bengals, U.S. National Team soccer legend Kasey Keller and the Portland Trail Blazers’ Zach Randolph.

(PORTLAND) - The Portland LumberJax have acquired Minnesota Swarm forward Kelly Hall in exchange for Mike Hominuck in a trade.

Hall comes to the Jax as the Swarm’s leading goal-scorer (8) and is second on the squad in overall points with 17.

Crusader Women Break Open Close Game at Half, Top WOU 71-51

(MONMOUTH) - Up by just three points at halftime, Northwest Nazarene outscored Western Oregon 45-28 in the second half to roll to a 71-51 women’s basketball win on Thursday night at the Physical Education Building.

Western Oregon dropped to 3-18 on the year and to 2-8 in the GNAC.

The Wolves will get the rest of the weekend off, and will next play at Western Washington next Thursday.

San Diego State Upsets No. 6 Oregon State, 1-0

(SAN DIEGO) - Freshman outfielder Brittany Knudsen hit a third inning lead-off home run to provide all of the scoring as San Diego State upset No. 6 ranked Oregon State, 1-0, in Thursday’s softball season opener at the San Diego State Tournament.

The Beavers (0-1) dropped their second straight season opener by a 1-0 margin despite picking up five hits in the game – unfortunately they weren’t able to string the hits together in the same inning.

Western Oregon Men Shock No. 7 Seattle, 69-67

Down 25-5 early, Wolves rally for 69-67 win on Kuhns winner with eight seconds left.

(SEATTLE, Wash.) - Western Oregon overcame a 20-point first half deficit, winning on a driving lay-up by Travis Kuhns with eight seconds left to stun host Seattle in a 69-67 men’s basketball game on Thursday night at the Connelly Center.

Kuhns game-winner gave the Wolves a lead for only the second time all night.

Mike Boxley’s shot with four seconds left did not go for Seattle and the Wolves left with the upset win.

OSU Women Come Up Short at Arizona, 65-61

Three Beavers reached double figures in scoring with senior guard Casey Nash’s 15 points leading the way.

(TUCSON, Ariz.) - Oregon State’s women’s basketball team suffered a disappointing 65-61 loss to University of Arizona on Thursday night.

Arizona (9-17; 3-11 Pac-10) came alive in the final 10 minutes as the Wildcats fended off Oregon State (8-14; 3-10 Pac-10) to give head coach Joan Bonvicini her 600th career victory and first against the Beavers since LaVonda Wagner took the helm.

Oregon's Sipe Shoots School Record 62

The third and final round of the UH Hilo Intercollegiate will be played Friday.

(WAIKOLOA, Hawaii ) - Junior Derek Sipe set a University of Oregon school record by shooting a 62 Thursday at the UH Hilo Intercollegiate.

The Yorba Linda, Calif., native helped the Ducks shoot a 13-under 267 as Oregon climbed to fifth in the team standings following two rounds of play.

"Derek was just phenomenal today," said Oregon coach Casey Martin.

No. 13 Oregon Survives Scare From ASU, 55-51

(EUGENE) - Tajuan Porter helped Oregon survive a rare off night by star guard Aaron Brooks.

The freshman point guard scored 24 points to lead the 13th-ranked Ducks to a 55-51 win Thursday night against a resilient Arizona State team looking for its first league win of the season.

ESPN 2 NASCAR Busch Series Telecast Schedule

(NEW YORK) - ESPN’s full race telecast schedule for the 2007 NASCAR Busch Series season includes live coverage of all 35 races and coverage of practice and qualifying for 17 events.

ESPN2 will be the home of the series for 29 races, with six to be televised by ESPN on ABC.

The season will begin with coverage of the NASCAR Busch Series Orbitz 300 from Daytona International Speedway on Saturday, Feb. 17th, at 1:15 PM ET on ESPN2.
