(CORVALLIS) - Oregon State University coaches, current student-athletes and former student-athletes dominate numerous categories for the 55th annual Oregon Sports Awards scheduled for Sun., Feb. 11th.
Three of the five finalists for the Slats Gill Sportsperson of the Year Award are Beaver coaches.
Pat Casey, who led the 2006 baseball team to the national title, is joined by fellow Beaver coaches Kirk Walker (softball) and Mike Riley (football).

(EUGENE) - The Oregon Ducks begin the final month of the regular season seeking revenge against the L.A. schools at Mac Court.
Oregon dropped a heartbreaking overtime decision at USC on Jan. 5th and surrendered a halftime lead before losing at UCLA on Jan. 7th.

Returning senior starters Kelly Gilmore, Matt Rasmussen, and Grant Yamaguchi will lead a young group of players into the season.
Willamette will start three seniors, two juniors and four sophomores on the field to begin the season.

Up first will be Alaska Anchorage, who shut down the Wolves with suffocating defense (70-49) on Jan. 20th in Monmouth.

The Oregon Sports Awards will celebrate the best in the state in 2006 with another glittering stage show at the Nike headquarters in Beaverton.
The event will honor the top athletes, coaches, teams, administrators and organizations from last year in the state of Oregon.

(WEST POINT, N.Y. ) - When Bobby Ross informed officials at the United States Military Academy of his decision to retire from coaching, Academy leadership wasted little time identifying the veteran field boss' successor.
On the same day in which Ross officially announced that he was leaving the coaching sidelines, United States Military Academy Superintendent Lt. Gen. Franklin L. Hagenbeck and Director of Athletics Kevin Anderson introduced Stan Brock as the Black Knights' new head football coach.
A member of Ross' original staff at the Academy, Brock has guided Army's offensive linemen each of the past three years and carries the experience of 16 years as a standout lineman in the NFL.

(SAN FRANCISCO) - The San Francisco Giants announced Monday that Barry Bonds, the 14-year Giants veteran and seven-time National League Most Valuable Player, signed a one-year, $15.8 million deal with the Giants.
The lone member of the game's 500 home run-500 stolen base club, Bonds also ranks second in baseball history for extra-base hits (1,398), and fifth for RBIs (1,930).
Bonds has won an unprecedented seven Most Valuable Player awards and has been the runner-up twice.
