(PALO ALTO, Calif.) - Brooke Smith had 17 points and nine rebounds as No. 9 Stanford overcame an 11-point half time deficit to beat Oregon State 69-55 Saturday.
Candice Wiggins added 15 points, seven rebounds and six assists for the Cardinal (15-3 overall, 8-0 Pac-10).
Stanford outscored the Beavers 46-21 in the second half.

(CONCORD, N.C.) - The Army National Guard has announced it will expand its new partnership with Hendrick Motorsports by supporting driver Casey Mears in the 2007 NASCAR Busch Series.
Mears is scheduled to make 22 starts in Chevrolets branded with the 24 number, which has not been campaigned by Hendrick Motorsports in the Busch Series since 2002.
At each event, a different National Guard brigade or division will be represented through recognition on the car, identification on team uniforms and other elements. Read Full Article

"Dad, he's pretty hyper-active," said the younger Wallace before the press in the Daytona International Speedway infield Media Center on Saturday. "He's like that 7 in the morning or 9 at night. I think I'm a little more laid back then he is."
Laid back or not, the Steve Wallace is "focused" on getting things right as preparations for the Orbitz 300 NASCAR Busch Series season opener on Saturday, Feb. 17th.

(PORTLAND) - Aaron Boogaard, a noted tough guy whose older brother plays for the Minnesota Wild, scored 3 goals and offensive catalyst Colton Yellow Horn had 2 goals as the Tri-City Americans beat the Portland Winter Hawks 7-3 Friday in front of 7,563 in the Rose Garden.
Nick Hotson had 2 goals for Portland, which was under siege most of the game as the Americans outshot Portland 52-22, Hawks’ goalie Kurtis Mucha with 45 saves.
The Hawks trailed 4-3 with 10:24 left in the second period, but with Tri-Cities spending most of the game inside the Hawks’ blue line, it was a matter of time.

(DAYTONA BEACH, Fla.) - The search for speed in preparation for the Orbitz 300 NASCAR Busch Series season opener on Saturday, Feb. 17th began on Friday at Daytona International Speedway.
The first wave of Busch Series teams kicked off a three-day test on Friday morning while a second wave will begin a three-day test session on Sunday.
In qualifying trim, Busch had the No. 5B Chevrolet fastest with a lap of 183.057 mph and the No. 5A Chevrolet second fastest with a speed of 182.960.

(SALEM) - Willamette University held a 15-4 lead, but 10th-ranked Whitworth College led 37-34 at halftime, then shot 64% (16 of 25) in the second half, as the Pirates downed the Bearcats, 79-66, Friday night at Cone Field House.
With the win, Whitworth improved to 16-1 on the season and remained in first place in the Northwest Conference at 7-1.
With the loss, Willamette saw its record move to 6-10 overall, 2-5 in the NWC.
