Younger Jones Shining in High School Football Game After Older Brother's Death

A moment of silence was held at the McNary-Sprague game Thursday night to honor fallen Salem, and 2003 Sprague graduate Lance Cpl. Derek W. Jones, who died Oct. 8th from wounds received while fighting in Iraq. Jones' brother, Chad is a starting outside linebacker and running back for the Olympians.

Corban Rallies to Defeat Concordia, 3-1

With the win, Corban improves to 4-3-1 in conference games, and 6-5-2 overall.

(PORTLAND) - Corban logoRigo Rivas gave Concordia an early lead, but Corban answered with two goals in an eight minute span of the first half and added another with two seconds left for a 3-1 Cascade Collegiate

Conference victory over the Cavaliers Thursday afternoon. Rivas converted a crossing pass from Joe Givens into a goal at 5:20 of the first half.

Corban tied the score a few minutes later. Concordia was called for a foul just outside the goalie box and Andrew Brown's shot managed to get past the Cavalier wall and goalkeeper Garrett Staples for the goal.

Limited Number of University of Oregon Basketball Season Tickets to go on Sale Friday

Fans interested in purchasing tickets have two options -- reserved season tickets with a Duck Athletic Fund annual contribution, or reserved season tickets without a DAF contribution.

(EUGENE) - Ducks basketballA limited number of reserved season tickets for the 2006-07 men’s basketball season will go on sale to the general public Friday beginning at 9:00 AM.

Reserved season tickets that do not require an annual contribution are located in the 300 level or are single seats located in the 100 or 200 levels.

Tickets in the 300 level of McArthur Court are $318 each, while 100 and 200 level tickets are $397 each.

Anderson Sparks Bruins in Payback Sweep of Pioneers

In their last encounter in the conference opener on Sept. 13th in Portland, the Bruins let leads of 7-2 and 12-7 in the fifth game get away as the Pioneers rallied to pull off a stunning win, but the Bruins would allow none of that this time.

(NEWBERG) - George FoxMaking sure they would not let victory slip through their fingers as happened the last time they met, the George Fox University Bruins made quick work of the Lewis & Clark College Pioneers 3-0 in a snappy 84-minute Northwest Conference women’s volleyball match Wednesday night here at the Wheeler Sports Center’s Miller Gym.

Led by middle blocker Elizabeth Anderson’s 18 kills and 12.5 blocks by the defense, the Bruins posted a 30-26, 30-27, 30-19 sweep of the Pioneers to split the season series.

Boxers Down Rival Linfield, Move Into First Place

It was Porter's first collegiate goal and Atta's second assist of the year.

(FOREST GROVE) - Brandon PorterBrandon Porter's second half goal moved Pacific into first place in the Northwest Conference standings Wednesday as the Boxers posted a 2-1 victory over Linfield in men's soccer action at Tom Reynolds Field.

Porter connected in the 82nd minute on one of only four second half chances for the Boxers, heading in the goal off a right-side corner kick from Derek Atta.

Kelowna Scores Twice in Third Period to Beat Winter Hawks, 4-2

Kurtis Mucha, who finished with 20 saves, was brilliant in the second period, stopping all 11 shots he faced including several at point blank range.

(PORTLAND) - Winterhawks logoCody Almond and Clayton Barthel scored third period goals as the Kelowna Rockets defeated the Portland Winter Hawks 4-2 Wednesday in Prospera Place in Kelowna.

Rob Klinkhammer scored his fourth goal in 4 games for Portland since being acquired in a trade with Seattle and Michael Sauer scored on the power play in the second period for Portland. Klinkhammer was stopped twice on breakaways by Kelowna goalie Kristofer Westblom, who finished with 26 saves.

Pac-10 Leading Ducks Face Washington, Washington State

Oregon is 7-3 this season in games played away from Eugene and just 1-2 at home in 2006.

(EUGENE) - UO womens soccerFollowing a history-making trip to Arizona that left the Ducks 2-0 in the Pac-10 for the first time ever, Oregon returns to Eugene to open a three-game home stand. That stretch begins on Friday with Washington in a 7:00 PM game. Then it’s Washington State on Sunday at 1:00 PM.

HISTORY MAKING WEEKEND:

By winning at the Arizona schools last weekend, the Ducks notched a number of significant marks. Here’s a brief rundown:

* Oregon defeated a top 25 team for just the second time in program history, and for the first time ever on the road, when it defeated No. 24 Arizona on Oct. 6th.

Ducks Look to Rebound Against Bruins

Something’s gotta give: Oregon leads the Pac-10 in rushing offense (197.0 ypg) while the Bruins rank first in rushing defense, allowing just 50 yards per game.

(EUGENE) - UO football playersThe University of Oregon football team (4-1 overall, 2-1 Pacific-10 Conference) returns home this weekend to host the UCLA Bruins (4-1, 2-1) at Autzen Stadium in Eugene in a battle to break a four-team deadlock for third place in the league standings.

The Ducks played their last two games on the road -- at Arizona State and California -- and will be looking for their second home conference victory of the season. This will be the first time since the 2004 season that the two teams have faced off as they did not play last season.

Oregon State Softball Hosts Fall Tournament This Weekend

The 2006 OSU squad finished the year with a 43-16 overall record, won a program-best 28 consecutive games, and was ranked as high as #5 nationally.

(CORVALLIS) - OSU women during softball tournamentOregon State’s softball program will host a fall tournament this weekend at the OSU Softball Complex.

The Beavers will compete in six games during the two-day tournament which features teams from Oregon, Washington, and California.

Oregon State returns 11 players from last season’s NCAA Women’s College World Series team, including All-American pitcher Brianne McGowan and All-American utility player Cambria Miranda.

Admission is free.
