(SALEM) - Are you ready for some mid-valley high school football, Thursday night style?
Most teams in the state are in action Thursday night, and some mid-valley teams face must wins this week if they want any chance of making the state playoffs this year.
In what could be the Central Valley Conference game of the year, West Salem (3-2 overall, 2-1 CVC) travels to the high desert of central Oregon to take on Redmond (4-2 overall, 2-0 CVC) who is tied for the conference lead with Sprague.
McNary (2-4 overall, 0-2 CVC) needs a win at home to stay alive in the playoff race, but will have to beat Sprague (3-3 overall, 2-0 CVC) who is on a three game winning streak. Read Full Article

Salem-News.com Sports (October 11, 2006 10:53)Willamette Men’s Soccer Weekly Digest Salem-News.com SPORTSThe Bearcats have now dropped six straight contests and have fallen to 1-10-1 overall and 0-6-1 in NWC action. (SALEM) - The Willamette University men’s soccer team dropped a pair of Northwest Conference matches last week, losing 3-1 to Pacific University on Saturday, and 5-0 to Pacific Lutheran University on Sunday.
On Saturday at Sparks Field, Pacific scored two goals in the first 10 minutes, on its way to a 3-1 win.
Willamette’s goal was scored at 88:57 by Thomas Cloutier (Jr., D, Beaverton, OR/Westview HS) with an assist from Mikey Rodriguez (Jr., F, Beaverton, OR/Southridge HS).

(CORVALLIS) - The Beavers return home for matches against a pair of unranked teams in Arizona (9-8, 0-5) and Arizona State (9-7, 1-4).
SCOUTING THE OPPOSITION:
Oregon State’s first encounter of the week comes against Arizona, which holds a 19-match winning streak. The Wildcats lost three of its top players in the program’s history to graduation. Then UA’s season took another hit when senior MB Kristina Baum went down with a knee injury during the preseason. The Wildcats are currently suffering through a six-match losing streak. OSU’s last victory over the ‘Cats came in a four-game win Sept. 27th, 1996 in Corvallis.

(SAMMISH, Wash.)) - The Oregon State women's golf team is in 14th after one round at the Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational, hosted by Washington.
The second round of play will get underway Tuesday morning and the final round will be played on Wednesday.
The Beavers shot a 321 in the opening round of the tournament at the par-72 Sahalee Country Club. Arizona State leads the tournament after a 299 in the first round. Read Full Article

(EUGENE) - The Ducks (12-3, 2-3 Pac-10) host the Arizona Schools this week at McArthur Court with matches against the ASU Sun Devils on Thursday and Arizona Wildcats on Friday.
THE WEEK THAT WAS: Oregon had another successful week, splitting a pair of matches on its first Pac-10 road trip of 2006. The Ducks took No. 5 Washington to four games in a 3-1 setback on Friday before sweeping Washington State the following night.
ABOUT THE DUCKS: The Oregon volleyball team welcomes seven newcomers and returns six players from last season’s squad, which finished 12-18 overall, 1-17 in the Pac-10 Conference. Read Full Article

(MONMOUTH) - It took 109 minutes and 56 seconds to settle the verdict, before Maggie Kuzmer’s 25-yard free kick ended an afternoon of drama as Western Oregon edged Southern Oregon 2-1 in double overtime in a non-conference women’s soccer.
The Wolves will now return to Great Northwest Athletic Conference play, hosting league-leader Seattle on Friday (3 PM) and Central Washington on Sunday (noon).

(FAIRFAX, Calif.) - Led by two top-5 individual finishes, the Oregon State men's golf team finished the Alister MacKenzie Invitational, hosted by Cal, in 3rd place on Tuesday.
It was a tournament for the record books for the Beavers as their second round score of 7-under-par 277 tied for 3rd lowest team single-round score in Oregon State history.
Their tournament total of 4-under-par 848 (284-277-287) ties for the 4th lowest team three-round score. Read Full Article

Willamette also fell from the top spot to #2 in the West Region Rankings. The Bearcats are 10-1-1 overall and lead the Northwest Conference at 7-1-0.

(SALEM) - Both the Willamette University men’s and women’s cross country teams moved up in the latest NCAA Division III National Rankings conducted by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
The women’s team moved up one spot to #11, while the men’s team moved up one spot to #14.
Willamette has an outstanding history in men’s and women’s cross country. Last year, the Bearcats placed 14th in the women’s race and 16th in the men’s race at the NCAA Division III National Championships.
