(EUGENE) - Oregon Quarterback Dennis Dixon threw for 357 yards and two touchdowns, and ran for another, while running back Jonathan Stewart rushed for 142 yards and a touchdown, and receiver Jaison Williams caught 9 passes for 177 yards and a touchdown, as the #18 ranked Oregon Ducks overcame four turnovers to beat the visiting #15 ranked Oklahoma Sooners 34-33 Saturday at Autzen Stadium.
Oregon (3-0), was trailing 33-20 with 3:12 left in the fourth, but Dixon’s 16 yard TD run cut the Sooners (2-1) lead to 33-27.
The Ducks, kept fighting, and took the lead with :45 left on the clock when Dixon hit Brian Paysinger with 23 yard TD pass for the games final score.

Oregon opens Pac-10 play at home on Thursday against UCLA. (BOISE, Idaho) - The University of Oregon volleyball team defeated Gonzaga in three games, running its winning streak to nine and matching the school record to start a season established by the 1991 squad.
The Ducks (9-0) put the Zags (4-8) away by scores of 30-17, 30-26 and 30-22, in the opening match of the Boise State Tournament.
Efficiency was a key for Oregon as the Ducks hit .312 for the match and got stronger every game. UO hit .286 in the first, .300 in the second and .353 in the third.

(SALEM) - Leslie Compean earned 13 kills and a .417 hitting percentage to lead Whitman College to a 30-24, 30-25, 30-20 victory over Willamette, in the Northwest Conference opener for both teams, Friday, at Cone Field House.
Whitman improved its record to 5-4, 1-0 in the NWC, while Willamette moved to 3-7, 0-1 in the NWC.
The Missionaries also benefited from the efforts of Emily Seidor, who registered nine kills and no attacking errors on 13 attacks for a .692 hitting percentage. Lydia Hayes added eight kills for Whitman.

The Bruins hit only .089, with 23 errors and only 35 kills, in falling 25-30, 25-30, 19-30.

The only bigger crowd for a women’s game was part of a doubleheader with the OSU men’s soccer team in 2003. (CORVALLIS) - The Oregon State women’s soccer team put together a strong effort against the defending NCAA champions, but #8 Portland scored twice in the final two minutes and pulled out a 3-0 victory in front of a big crowd at Lorenz Field on Friday night.
For the first 88 minutes of the contest, the game’s only goal came in the 30th minute. UP’s Rachel Rapinoe got the ball at the top of the box after OSU tried to clear it away. She lifted a pass over to the left side for Natalie Budge. Budge ran onto the ball and ripped a shot from a difficult angle, about 10 yards away, off the bottom of the crossbar and into the net for her fourth goal of the season.

(FOREST GROVE) - Pacific Lutheran rebounded from a nine-point deficit early in game one to take control rest of the way Friday, beating Pacific in three games, 30-22, 30-27, 30-23, in both team's Northwest Conference volleyball opener at the Pacific Athletic Center.
The Boxers (3-8, 0-1 NWC) hit well in the first half of game one, only to watch errors bring the Lutes (6-4, 1-0 NWC) back into it. The two teams played a tight game in the second set before PLU took early control in game three to seal the victory.
Kati McGinn led the Lutes with 15 kills and Stacie Matz finished with 13 as the team hit .234 for the match.

(OMAHA, Neb.) - The Oregon State men’s soccer team twice came back from one-goal deficits and posted a hard-fought 2-2 tie against Creighton at Morrison Stadium on Friday evening.
It was a good road result for the Beavers, as Creighton (3-2-2) reached the quarterfinals of the 2005 NCAA Tournament. The game was played in front of a crowd of 2,311.
“I thought our guys battled really, really well,” said OSU Coach Dana Taylor, who was an assistant at Creighton from 1995-98. “We worked so hard. This is a tough place to play. The environment was an awesome experience for our guys. We deserved this result with the way we played.”

(SPOKANE, Wash.) - Nicole Garbin scored with 4:04 remaining in the game to lift Oregon to a 1-0 victory over Gonzaga Friday at Martin Field.
Freshman Melissa Buich set up the goal by feeding a pass through the left side of the Bulldog defense near midfield to Garbin, who went to work from there.
The senior from Wailuku, Hawaii, dribbled past her defender to set up a one-on-one against Zags’ goalkeeper Jessie Thalman, who had stoned Garbin in a similar situation in the first half.
