Salem-News.com Sports (May 08, 2006 01:52)2006 Individual Foil Championship Results Salem-News.com Sports(SALEM) - This year's Individual Foil Championship was held at Blanchett High School in Salem. The Salem Homeschool Byzantines definitely dominated the championships, taking four of the top five individual places.
North Salem fencers chose not to compete individually. West Salem was very under-represented, as they have a roster of more than 15 fencers. Unfortunately, only two of them competed, which was not enough to form a team.
Titan freshman Josh Collins fenced well in his first-ever competition, and teammate Teague Watson showed more of the continued improvement that he has been showing all season. And Blanchet's squad also showed continued improvement -- especially amongst the first-year fencers. Read Full Article

(MONMOUTH) - Western Oregon saw its 17-game win streak come to an end, but then bounced back to end the regular season with a victory during a baseball doubleheader at home against Saint Martin`s on Sunday.
The Saints won the first game 4-3, while the Wolves took the nightcap, 16-10. WOU goes to 38-14 on the year and ends Great Northwest Athletic Conference play with a 20-4 mark. Saint Martin`s finishes the year at 15-28 overall and 7-12 in GNAC action. Read Full Article

The game will not be made up.

(MONMOUTH) - Western Oregon`s impressive late season baseball run continued with a pair of wins over Saint Martin`s (9-3 and 8-2) on Saturday at the WOU Baseball Field.
The Wolves, who have now won 17 consecutive games, will wrap up the regular season on Sunday with a noon doubleheader against the Saints. WOU will take a 37-13 record into the games, and 19-3 mark in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference. Saint Martin`s drops to 14-27 overall and to 6-11 in league action. Oregon State (37-10; 9-7 Pac-10) junior pitcher Ta`Tyana McElroy allowed just five Bruin hits in the complete game performance, but UCLA (42-5; 14-3 Pac-10) used Andrea Duran`s double and Benyi`s two-out RBI to squeak-out the game`s lone run in the fifth. Read Full Article

(MONMOUTH) - The Western Oregon women won seven individual events but it wasn`t quite enough to overcome Seattle Pacific as the Falcons edged the Wolves 203-188 to win the team title at the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Track and Field Championships on Saturday at McArthur Field.
In the winning the crown, the Falcons broke a string of three straight Western Oregon team championships—the Wolves had won in 2003, 2004 and 2005.

(SALEM) - Seattle guard Rashaad Powell had 32 points, as the Seattle Mountaineers overcame an 11-point half time deficit to beat the Salem Stampede 122-109 Friday night at Salem Armory.
The Stampede (6-4) were led by Eric Fiegi`s 25 points and 7 rebounds. Stampede Guard Jeff Dunn added 22 points.

Salem-News.com Sports (May 05, 2006 10:38)Surge Ready to Kick-Off New Season Salem-News.com SportsThe Surge are seeking to repeat as Northwest Division Champions. (SALEM) - The Cascade Surge open Premier Development League play Saturday at 7:05 PM against the Yakima Reds.
Last year the Surge were 13-3-2 and lost in the PDL`s Western Conference Finals.
The PDL expanded the Northwest Division from four to six teams this year.
The Surge will play eight home games, the home opener at McCulloch Stadium is Friday, May 19, at 7:05 PM against BYU. Read Full Article
