Volcanoes Selling Naming and Experience Rights

The club is getting ready for it’s 10TH season in Keizer, opening night is June 24TH.

(KEIZER) - The Salem-Keizer Volcanoes are seeking a corporate partner interested in ballpark naming rights and turning Volcanoes Stadium into an interactive corporate experience.

"Until now, Minor League Naming Rights were tied to fan exposure and hospitality options," said Volcanoes owner Jerry Walker. "But now 'living' a brand has become very important for both companies and fans. We believe we're the first to do this."

As part of the partnership, the Volcanoes are considering an interactive section of the ballpark where more than 115,000 fans will "live" the partner's brand.

Men's Baseball: Wolves Still Top-Ranked in West

Western Oregon baseball squad is No. 1 in west poll, 7th nationally.

(MONMOUTH) - The Western Oregon baseball team held the No. 1 ranking for the third straight week in the official NCAA Division II west region poll announced today, and they moved up one spot to seventh in the National Collegiate Baseball Writer`s Association national list.

The Wolves have won 15 consecutive games and have just four regular-season contests left. The poll is based strictly on a ratings system that includes six different categories. The Wolves, in part because of a solid record against highly ranked teams in the region, have kept the top spot.

Jeff Macy Named Strength and Conditioning Coach at OSU

(CORVALLIS) - Jeff Macy has been named the Oregon State University Department of Athletics strength and conditioning coach, Director of Athletics Bob De Carolis announced Wednesday.

Macy arrives at OSU from the Chicago Bulls of the National Basketball Association, where he was the assistant strength coach since September of 2001.

“Opportunities like the one at Oregon State University don`t come along very often,“ Macy said. “The chance to work in the Pacific-10 Conference and the quality of life for my family in Corvallis make this a very attractive position.“

Three Stadium Records Highlight WOU Twilight

(MONMOUTH) - Three McArthur Field stadium records were erased on Friday night to highlight efforts at the WOU Twilight meet.

Over 500 athletes competed in the meet, which began in warm afternoon sun and was completed after 11:00 PM under the stadium lights.

The University of Oregon's Colin Veldman established a stadium record in the men's discus, tossing the disk 182-0. The old mark was held by Western Oregon's Brian Crawford (168-8) in 2000.

Salem Stampede Live Television Broadcast

(SALEM) - The Salem Stampede's game against Chico will play Saturday night on KWVT at 7:00 PM.

KWVT, Salem's Channel 52, is delivering the game in cooperation with Majestic Video and Photo, Full Access Sports, and the Salem Stampede.

The crew will broadcast the Stampede basketball live from Salem's Armory.

Former Jesuit High #1 Triathlete in the World

(ISHIGAKI, Japan) - On April 16th, Mark Fretta ‘95 took 6th place in the 2006 ITU (International Triathlon Union) Triathlon World Cup in Ishigaki, Japan, ranking him #1 in the world. He needed to finish in the top six in order to become #1 in the world.

The world ranking system at the elite level of triathlon is measured with points obtained at World Cup races. The top 20 race finishers are awarded with points and accrued points determine one's world rank.

Bruins Hang on for 3rd Consecutive PAC-10 Women's Golf Championship

(TUCSON, Ariz) - The UCLA Bruins took the 20th annual Pac-10 Women's Golf Championship Wednesday at Oro Valley Country Club, with an 879 (+15) total and edging out Arizona State by only one-stroke.

"I'm still a little overwhelmed," said UCLA head coach Carrie Forsyth. "We lost one of our top players (Hannah Jun) before the season in an accident, and she couldn't participate with us this season. I want to dedicate this championship to Hannah. I want to thank this team for putting all their heart into this season. I am so proud of them."
