Fiscal Year 2009 Department Of Defense Budget Released

They say the budget will procure and maintain an arsenal of the world's most advanced weapon systems.

(WASHINGTON, D.C.) - U.S. soldiers in Afghanistan President George W. Bush today sent to Congress his Defense budget for Fiscal Year 2009. The budget provides $515.4 billion in discretionary authority for the Department of Defense (DoD), a $35.9 billion or 7.5 percent increase over the enacted level for Fiscal Year 2008.

The Fiscal Year 2009 budget reflects the President's priorities and sustains his commitment to prevail in the Global War on Terror; increase ground combat capabilities; improve force readiness; develop the combat capabilities needed to meet future threats; and improve the quality of life for Service members and their families.

Man Alleged to Admire Campus Killers Busted at Linn Benton

(ALBANY, Ore.) - 26-year old Orion W. Cannon of Corvallis was arrested and charged with Attempted Unlawful Use of a Weapon A student has been arrested at Linn Benton College for allegedly making statements about school shooters, issuing threats and purchasing a rifle that some students say he planned to use against them on campus.

It began January 31st when Albany Police Department received information from security staff at the Linn Benton Community College who had taken a report from a witness. The witness reported, Orion W. Cannon, made recent statements about admiring school shootings, and general threats against students at LBCC, where he is currently enrolled as a student.

(CORVALLIS, Ore.) - 22-year old Marcus Alan Kell of Salem Corvallis Police officers stopped a vehicle Friday driven by Marcus A. Kell in the 400 block of SW Madison Avenue after a witness reported Kell had a handgun concealed in his pants at a downtown Corvallis bar.

Oregon Lottery Quarterly Transfer 3rd Largest in History

"The Lottery’s mission to maximize profits for the State of Oregon is certainly reflected in this latest transfer," - Oregon Lottery Director Dale Penn.

(SALEM ,Ore.) - Oregon lottery building The Oregon Lottery’s quarterly transfer of $164.3 million to the State’s Economic Development Fund on January 28th 2008, was the third largest ever since the Lottery began selling tickets in 1985.

The largest quarterly transfer, $208.7 million, was recorded for the quarter ending September 2007. The second largest transfer of $167.7 million was for the quarter ending in September 2006.

Murder Investigation Underway in Milwaukie, Oregon

Investigators are asking for the assistance of anyone who may have witnesses anything unusual there.

(MILWAUKIE, Ore.) - A report of a person down in a business at 6:20 AM this morning sent Clackamas County deputies to 17869 SE McLoughlin Boulevard in Milwaukie. When deputies arrived they found a male with obvious trauma.

The person, identified as 59-year old Gurdev Sohi who lived in the Oregon City area, was deceased. Detective Jeffrey Green with the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office says the location is a Texaco station and Express Oil Lube business. The area was secured and detectives responded.

Three 12-Year Old Girls Struck in Vancouver Crosswalk

The driver was arrested for driving under the influence and other charges.

(VANCOUVER, Wash.) - Clark County, Washington Sheriff`s car Police say a Vancouver woman driving a 2002 Dodge Dakota pickup ran over three 12-year old girls that were walking in an unmarked crosswalk, within a residential neighborhood in Vancouver, Washington.

The collision occurred at 5:40 PM Sunday at the residential intersection of NE 94th Ave and NE 96th Street, just north of the Padden Parkway in Vancouver, according to Sgt. Michael McCabe of the Clark County Sheriff's Office.

Detectives Investigate Death at Clackamas County Jail

The Clackamas County Sheriff's Office has released the name of the person found deceased in the Clackamas County Jail.

(CLACKAMAS, Ore.) - Clackamas County Jail Detectives from the Clackamas County Sheriffs' Office are currently investigating a death within the jail. Detective Jeffrey Green with the Clackamas Sheriff says the death appears to be non-criminal in nature.

The Sheriff's Office has now released the name of the person found deceased in the Clackamas County Jail. 51-year old Brian Truman Hebener was found dead in a cell, alone, at about 7:30 PM on Sunday.
