Connecticut Girl Found Alive After One Year

Danielle Erica Kramer was reported missing in 2006. Police say the kidnappers were friends of the girl's family.

(BLOOMFIELD, Ct.) - Police in Connecticut say a girl who went missing over a year ago has been found alive. A search warrant was served in Bloomfield, Ct. and the girl was found in a hidden room.

Jeffrey Blatter of Bloomfield, Ct. Police says she was, "A child from some troubled circumstances who thought she found a friend, she went missing over a year ago. The parents are familiar with what is going on and they are talking to us today."

Health Advisory Issued for Water Contact at D River State Park Beach

While these advisories are in effect at D River State Park beach, visitors should avoid wading in nearby creeks or in discolored water, and stay clear of water runoff flowing into the ocean.

(LINCOLN CITY, Ore.) - A public health advisory was issued today due to higher-than-normal levels of bacteria in ocean waters at D River State Park beach, near the mouth of D River, in Lincoln County.

Increased pathogen and fecal bacteria levels in ocean waters can come from both shore and inland sources such as storm water runoff, sewer overflows, failing septic systems and even animal waste from livestock, pets and wildlife.

Kansas Police Continue Search for Missing Teen Kelsey Smith

Kelsey Smith, a recent Shawnee Mission West High School graduate, was expected to drive directly home from the Target store but never made it.

(OVERLAND PARK, KS) - Police continue to follow up on several leads regarding the disappearance of Kelsey Smith.

Smith, 18, has been missing since Saturday, June 2nd.

She was last seen leaving the Target store just south of Oak Park Mall at 7:00 PM.

Her car - a 1987 two-door Buick Regal - was found June 2nd in the parking lot of Macy’s at Oak Park Mall.

Sheriff`s Deputy Catches Woman Traveling over 100 MPH on I-5

The driver identified as 22-year-old Alison Corum advised Deputy Burnham she was in a hurry to get home.

(SALEM, Ore. ) - On Tuesday, Marion County Sheriff's Deputy Deputy Shane Burnham was working traffic enforcement on Interstate 5 near Mile Post 271.

While traveling northbound on Interstate 5, Deputy Burnham was passed in his marked patrol vehicle by a speeding motorist.

He paced the vehicle at speeds in excess of 100 MPH.

Log Pile Fire in Woodburn Threatens Barn

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

(WOODBURN, Ore. ) - On Tuesday just after 7:00 PM, Woodburn and Hubbard Fire Districts responded to a report of a barn fire at 12295 Dimmick Ln, in Woodburn.

On arrival the first engine found a log pile on fire threatening a barn.

Crews deployed lines to protect the barn and then extinguished the fire.

High School Graduation Ceremonies Friday will Close Some Salem Streets

(SALEM, Ore. ) - On Friday evening, McNary, McKay, and North Salem High Schools will be holding graduation ceremonies at the Oregon State Fairgrounds Pavilion and the Armory Building.

Due to the large number of people expected to attend the graduations, the Salem and Keizer Police Departments will be working with the school district to mitigate traffic congestion issues in the area.

As a result, there will be road closures in the area from 5:00 PM until approximately 10:00 PM on Friday to facilitate the movement of traffic to and from the graduation ceremonies.

City of Salem Announces New Fire Chief

Keller has close to 30 years of experience in the fire service, including 28 years with Portland Fire and Rescue.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Salem City Manager, Bob Wells, has announced the appointment of Gregory (Greg) H. Keller as the Fire Chief for the City of Salem, effective July 16th.

Keller replaces Chief Mike Knode, who has retired after 32 years of service with the Salem Fire Department. Chief Knode's last day as Salem's Fire Chief will be June 28th.

Sex Abuse Trial of Former Police Officer Begins in Salem, Oregon

(SALEM, Ore.) - The trial for Sterling Alexander began Tuesday. He faces sex abuse and other charges in three separate cases that are alleged to have taken place while he was a Salem police officer.

Prosecutor Jodie Bureta says he used his position of authority as a police officer to take advantage of the three alleged victims. Defense Attorney Kevin Lafky says a series of emails indicate that Salem Police may be at the center of a legal conflict of interest.

Five People Arrested in Two Salem Church Burglaries

Police say stolen items included a ceramic set of praying hands, three Priest robes, a three liter bottle of sacramental wine, and a ceremonial candle

(SALEM, Ore.) - Five suspects were arrested by Salem Police late Monday night, when they stopped to try on the Priest robes they had stolen from two local churches in Salem.

Lt. Russ Isham says the suspects, one adult and 3 juveniles, were observed breaking into the First United Methodist Church located at 600 State St. at about 8:15 PM.
