(SALEM, Ore. ) - Second-year Corban head men's soccer coach Dave Irby has announced that three high school seniors have signed Letters of Intent for next season, including local South Salem senior and all-state honorable mention defender Collin Box.
Irby, who is coming off a first-year campaign that produced a win-loss record of 9-7-3 and a trip to the NAIA Region I Tournament, inked Box and fellow high schools seniors Brendan McCornack (Moses Lake, Wash.) and Aaron Paulson (St. Helens, Ore.) for the 2007 season. Read Full Article

Joey Wong’s two-out single through the left side scored pinch-runner Braden Wells from second base as OSU (43-18) captured the opening game of the best-of-three series.
On Sunday, OSU’s Jorge Reyes and Michigan’s Zach Putnam staged a classic pitcher’s battle, with all four hits being singles and three of those being groundballs.

The "Big Three" of Tim Duncan, Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili had all eclipsed the 20-point plateau by the end of the third quarter and finished with a combined 78 points.

(PORTLAND, Ore. ) - From the start of the Mazda Champ Car Grand Prix of Portland Presented by Joe's Sports and Outdoor everyone knew it would be a historic day, but as the checkered flag flew the race gained more notoriety as Newman/Haas/Lanigan Racing earned its 100th Champ Car victory.
For the first time in Champ Car history, the race started from a standstill rather than the traditional rolling start.

(SACRAMENTO, Calif. ) - University of Oregon sophomores Rachel Yurkovich and Rebekah Noble claimed their second straight All-America outdoor honors Saturday in the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, hosted at Hornet Stadium on the Sacramento State University campus.
Overall in the team races, Oregon finished 10th on the men’s side with 20 points – its sixth top-15 finish the past seven years – and the UO women placed 27th with nine points.
Individually in the women’s javelin, Yurkovich placed fifth with a throw of 170-0 (51.83) and raised Oregon’s streak of All-America honors in the event to seven straight years and its ninth honor overall in that span.

(FORT WORTH, Texas) - Sam Hornish Jr. became the first three-time IndyCar Series winner at Texas Motor Speedway by capturing the victory Saturday night in the Bombardier Learjet 550k.
Hornish Jr. led 159 laps to score his first IndyCar Series victory of the season and his 19th IndyCar Series win, the most of any driver.
Andretti Green Racing teammates Tony Kanaan and Danica Patrick finished second and third respectively.

(NEW YORK) - The Queen is now King of the Hill.
Rags to Riches became the third filly in history and the first since Belmont Park opened in 1905 to win the longest and oldest leg of the Triple Crown when she got a head in front of favored Preakness winner Curlin on Saturday afternoon and won the 139th running of the Grade 1, $1 million Belmont Stakes – the 1 ½-mile “Test of the Champion.”
She passed this test with flying colors, and did her family proud. Her father, A.P. Indy, won the 1992 Belmont Stakes. Her dam, Better Than Honour, also dropped her half-brother, 2006 Belmont Stakes winner Jazil.

(STARKVILLE, Miss.) - Mississippi State continued its magical postseason ride Saturday afternoon, sweeping the Starkville Super Regional by defeating Clemson 8-5 at Dudy Noble Field.
The Bulldogs (38-20) erased an early 2-1 defecit with four runs in the second inning.
MSU is slated to play either North Carolina or South Carolina in the opening round of the College World Series next Friday or Saturday, June 15 or 16, in Omaha, Neb.
