(CORVALLIS, Ore. ) - Three more Oregon State players, all pitchers, were selected Friday during the second day of the Major League Baseball amateur draft.
In all, six Beavers were selected in the two-day, 50-round draft.
On Wednesday, right-handed pitcher Daniel Turpen (McMinnville, Ore. /McMinnville HS) went in the eighth round to the San Francisco Giants; he was the 254th player taken overall.

(CORVALLIS, Ore. ) - Saturday's opening game of the NCAA Super Regional baseball series between Michigan and Oregon State was rained out.
The Wolverines (42-17) and the 25th-ranked Beavers (42-18) are now scheduled to open their series Sunday at 1:06 p.m. at Goss Stadium at Coleman Field; the game will be televised on ESPN.

(PORTLAND, Ore. ) - University of Portland junior pitchers Chris Siegfried and Given Kutz were selected on the second day of the 2007 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft.
Siegfried was drafted in the 11th round by the Chicago Cubs, while Kutz was taken in the 18th round by the Los Angeles Dodgers on Friday.
Siegfried, a junior from McMinnville, Ore., was the 337th overall pick in the draft. Read Full Article

(LA JOLLA, Calif. ) - Charity Elliott has resigned her position as head women’s basketball coach at Portland State and has been named the new head coach at UC San Diego.
Elliott, who spent three seasons on the Park Blocks, becomes the fifth head coach in the 36-year history of the UCSD program.
The Tritons went 27-5 last season en route to making an appearance in the NCAA Division II Final Four.

Newman is on a roll as has won the last three poles and 41 in his career.

Wellman joins a class that includes two transfers and three freshmen that have joined the Wolves roster in the past two months.
Wellman (5-10, 165) was the starting point guard at Mountain View, helping to lead his squad to the 5A state semi-finals as a junior and senior.
