Two-time defending Darlington winner Greg Biffle qualified second with a lap of 164.876 mph.

After answering numerous questions about Dale Jr's situation, Bowyer went out and captured his first career Bud Pole in qualifying for the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series Dodge Avenger 500 at Darlington Raceway.

The driver of the No. 07 Jack Daniels RCR Chevrolet secured a birth in the 2008 Budweiser Shootout at Daytona with a fast lap of 164.987 mph.

NASCAR Busch Series: Hamlin Repeats at Darlington

The race was slowed by a record ten caution flags for 48 laps.

(DARLINGTON, S.C.) - Denny Hamlin photoDenny Hamlin made it a repeat performance at Darlington Raceway as he won the Diamond Hill Plywood 200 for the second consecutive season from the pole.

The win was bittersweet for Hamlin as it was his first victory since the tragedy at Virginia Tech.

Hamlin paid tribute to the victims by carrying the school flag during his victory lap and also plans on donating the trophy to the school.

Pac-10 Baseball: WSU Shocks Oregon State, 5-4

OSU lost for just the third time in 17 home games this season.

(CORVALLIS, Ore. ) - joey wong photoMike Lissman earned a place on Oregon State’s all-time top 10 for career hits but the 11th-ranked Beavers fell to Washington State 5-4 in Pac-10 baseball Friday evening at Goss Stadium at Coleman Field.

Lissman was 2-for-4 and Joey Wong was 2-for-3 with a double for OSU (35-12 overall, 7-9 Pac-10) in front of a season-high crowd of 2,327.

On Friday, Lissman’s two hits gave him 186 for his career, matching the number collected by Pete Rowe from 1974-77.

Pac-10 Softball: Home Runs Lift Oregon State Over Stanford

With the victory, Oregon State clinched a fifth place finish in the Pac-10 race.

(PALO ALTO, Calif. ) - Alana Ford photoFreshman outfielder Alana Ford belted a fourth inning grand slam home run and sophomore DeAnn Young added a 2-run shot to lift No. 15 ranked Oregon State to an 8-5 victory over No. 16 ranked Stanford in Friday night’s Pac-10 softball game.

Stanford (33-18-1; 7-12-1 Pac-10) took a 1-0 lead in the opening inning after capitalizing on two singles and a pair of walks, allowing Tricia Aggabao to score.

Oregon State (38-21; 9-11 Pac-10) got runners on base in each of the first three innings but couldn’t push any runs across the plate.

Pac-10 Softball: Ducks Win Third Straight With 8-2 Victory Over Cal

The Ducks’ 42 victories this year tie for the second most in Oregon history, also accomplished in 2004.

(BERKELEY, Calif. ) - Jenn Saling photoOregon picked up its third straight victory on Friday afternoon, as Neena Bryant, Jenn Salling and Joanna Gail each had multiple RBIs in the Ducks’ 8-2 victory over Cal at Levine-Fricke Field.

Oregon, currently ranked 20th in the nation, improves to 42-16 on the year and 7-13 in the Pac-10 Conference.

During Friday’s game, Oregon took the lead for good after scoring four runs in the top of the fifth, when the top of the lineup; Suzie Barnes, Sari-Jane Jenkins and Salling loaded the bases.

The two teams split an earlier meeting during spring break, setting up a high-stakes rubber match in the regional playoffs.

Brnca (17-2) held the high-scoring Wildcats to three hits and one run, the only tally coming on a solo home run by Jena Loop in the sixth inning.

MLB: Blue Jays Place Halladay on Disabled List

Righty to miss four to six weeks with acute appendicitis.

(TORONTO) - blue jays logoThe Blue Jays placed right-hander Roy Halladay on the 15-day disabled list on Friday, and the former American League Cy Young Award winner is expected to miss four to six weeks.

Prior to Friday night's game against the Rays, the Blue Jays announced that Halladay was suffering from acute appendicitis and was undergoing surgery.

For the season, Halladay is 4-2 with a 4.37 ERA in eight starts.
