NWC Baseball: Home Runs Lead Linfield to Victory

Linfield completes its three-game series with Lewis & Clark at 1:00 PM Sunday at Roy Helser Field.

(PORTLAND) - linfield player photoBrian Clark had a complete-game shutout in the first game and the Linfield bats came alive for 19 hits in the second game as the Wildcats swept visiting Lewis & Clark 3-0 and 15-1 on Saturday at Roy Helser Field in a Northwest Conference doubleheader.

The wins improved Linfield to 12-10 overall, 6-4 in conference play.

Lewis & Clark dropped to 8-14, 7-9 in conference.

Pac-10 Women's Tennis: No. 4 USC Sweeps Ducks, 7-0

The Ducks take to the road for the next couple of weeks, beginning with San Diego State on Friday, April 6th at 2:00 PM.

(EUGENE) - oregon tennis photoSophomore Carmen Seremeta was the only Duck to take her match past straight sets as the No. 24 Ducks were swept, 7-0, by the No. 4 USC Trojans Saturday afternoon at the Student Tennis Center.

The Cupertino, Calif. native won the first set of her match but USC's Amanda Fink rallied to take the second set and ultimately the match, 4-6, 6-3, (6).

Seremeta was the last Duck off of the court and since the team match was decided, a super tiebreak was employed to decide the No. 3 position match.

Pac-10 Softball: Rice Shuts Out 11th-Ranked Stanford in 8-0 Victory

Oregon and Stanford will play a quick rematch on Sunday, with start time set for 1:00 PM at Howe Field.

(EUGENE) - oregon player photoTwo games in a row junior leftfielder Lovena Chaput has hit a ball beyond the fences at Howe Field, and two games in a row 13th-ranked Oregon has added another victory to its growing total.

On Saturday the Ducks dealt 11th-ranked Stanford an 8-0 loss, ending the game early in the bottom of the fifth by way of Chaput’s walk-off two-run homer to right center.

Oregon improves to 36-3 on the year, extends its winning streak to 15 games, and is now 12-0 at Howe Field and 2-0 in the Pac-10 conference.

Pac-10 Softball: No. 17 Oregon State Rallies for 4-3 Victory Over Cal

The Beavers and Bears close the weekend series on Sunday at 1:00 PM.

(CORVALLIS) - osu player photoSophomore catcher Stefanie Ewing scored on a wild pitch in the bottom of the sixth inning to lead the No. 17 ranked Oregon State softball team to a 4-3 victory over California on Saturday.

Ewing picked up her second single of the day with a two-out hit through the left side of the infield and advanced to third base when fellow sophomore DeAnn Young blooped a single into shallow right field.

Three pitches later, Ewing crossed the plate to score what ended up being the game-winner when California (23-18; 0-2 Pac-10) reliever Brittany LaRosa was off-target and the ball sailed into the backstop.

CCC Baseball: Concordia Routs Corban, 11-1

(SALEM) - corban baseball photoSenior Kyle Myers drove in the Warriors' lone run in the ninth inning, as Corban's baseball team dropped the first game of a scheduled double header, 11-1, to the Cavaliers of Concordia on Saturday at Warrior Field before the rains set in and cancelled the second game.

Down by eleven runs, the host Warriors came to bat in the final inning and pinch hit for four of the first five batters with junior Doug Gausepohl reaching base on a walk and freshman Zack James reaching via a single.

Sophomore Rondie Taylor pinch-ran for Gausepohl and moved up ninety feet, along with James, via a wild pitch before Myers drove in Taylor on a miscommunication pop up in front of home plate for Corban's lone run of the ball game.

GNAC Baseball: Wolves, Crusaders Split Again

Western Oregon and NNU trade blowout baseball wins.

(MONMOUTH) - wolves logoNorthwest Nazarene erupted for seven runs in the top of the seventh inning to pull away for a 9-2 baseball victory over Western Oregon, earning a split of a Great Northwest Athletic Conference doubleheader on Saturday at the WOU Baseball Field.

Western Oregon is now 11-15 on the season and 2-2 in GNAC play.

NWC Baseball: Lutes Drop Two Bombs on Bruins for NWC Lead

The teams conclude their three-game series Sunday at noon.

(TACOMA, Wash.) - bruins playerRolling along on the strength of the best start in team history, the George Fox University Bruins found their express to another Northwest Conference baseball title brought to a sudden halt by the Pacific Lutheran University Lutes, who bounced the Bruins twice, 9-1 and 8-3, Saturday afternoon at the PLU Field.

The double dips dropped the Bruins, who are 19-3 overall and ranked 5th in the ABCA / NCAA Division III national poll, into second place in the conference at 11-3.

The Lutes, 20-6 overall, took over the top spot in the league by half a game at 9-2.

Oregon State's Denfeld Sets School Record at Stanford Invitational

Denfeld, who placed 11th, beat her own school record of 11:08.67, set last season.

(STANFORD, Calif.) - osu logoLauren Denfeld set Oregon State’s school record in the women’s 3,000-meter steeplechase Friday at the Stanford Invitational track and field meet.

Denfeld’s time of 10 minutes, 46.54 seconds also qualifies her for the NCAA West Regional Championships.

The meet – one of the most prestigious distance gatherings in the country during the regular season – concludes Saturday.

GNAC Softball: Wolves Drop Tourney Openers to Tritons, Warriors

Western Oregon blanked by UC San Diego and Cal State Stanislaus.

(TURLOCK, Calif.) - wou logoUC San Diego pitcher Melissa Ward tossed a three-hit shutout and Cal State Stanislaus’ Omaira Estremera followed up with a four-hit whitewash as Western Oregon dropped two games at the Mizuno Tournament of Champions on Friday at Pedretti Park.

The Wolves fell to UC San Diego (20-17) 4-0, while the Warriors (31-8) topped WOU 7-0.

Western Oregon is scheduled to play Humboldt State, Cal State Monterey Bay and Notre Dame de Namur on Saturday.
