Champ Car: Tracy Frustrated After Houston Pre-Season Test

(Angleton, Texas) - It was a frustrating two days for the Forsythe Team and Paul Tracy at Champ Car's preseason test this week at MSR Houston Raceway in East Texas as the #3 INDECK Panoz ran only a handful of laps due to a variety of problems.

During the afternoon session a clutch problem surfaced which once again caused Tracy to sit on the sidelines while the Forsythe crew repaired the car.

For this year's Daytona 500, NASCAR's richest and most prestigious event, there could be as many as 30 teams without guaranteed starting spots trying to qualify for "The Great American Race."

Oregon Pins Pilots, 28-12

(SALEM) - Oregon's wrestling team got back on the winning track heading into the Pac-10 tournament, as they defeated the Portland State Vikings, 28-12 in a Pac-10 dual match held at the Oregon State Fairgrounds Pavilion in Salem.

Seniors Chris Dearmon and Justin Pearch led the way for the Ducks (7-12, 2-8), with Dearmon recording a pin in 2:08 over Zack Smith in the heavyweight match and Pearch securing the 18-6 major decision over Wesley Moniz.

Oregon State, UCLA Meet in Pac-10 Showdown

(CORVALLIS) - Friday’s 6:00 PM game between No. 7 Oregon State and Cal Poly marks the first game between the two squads with former Beaver associate head coach Jenny Condon facing OSU head coach Kirk Walker in opposing dugouts.

Condon took over the reigns of the Cal Poly program in 2005 and holds a 65-40 record as a head coach.

NASCAR: Phil Parsons Named Honorary Starter for the Daytona 500

(DAYTONA BEACH, Fla.) - Phil Parsons, younger brother of 1975 Daytona 500 champion and 1973 NASCAR champion Benny Parsons, has been named Honorary Starter for the 49th annual Daytona 500 on Sunday at Daytona International Speedway.

Benny Parsons, who was diagnosed with lung cancer, passed away last month in Charlotte, N.C. after complications from treatment.

Pilots Host Gonzaga to Open Three-Game Homestand

(PORTLAND) - The Portland Pilots (9-17, 1-10 West Coast Conference) end the regular season with a three-game homestand, beginning with a game against the conference-leading Gonzaga Bulldogs (18-9, 10-1 WCC) on Saturday at 2:00 PM at the Chiles Center.

Portland dropped both of its league games in Northern California last week.

PSU`s Hix Named Big Sky Golfer of the Week

(PORTLAND) - Portland State`s Justine Hix has been selected the first Big Sky Conference Golfer of the Week for the spring season after tying for sixth place at the Baja Invitational in Ensenada, Mexico.

Hix, a freshman from Grants Pass, Ore., fired rounds of 86, 77, 76 for a 239 in cold, windy conditions.

Willamette Men Close Season at Whitworth and Whitman

(SALEM) - Willamette will travel to eastern Washington this weekend to play its final two games of the season.

The ‘Cats play at Whitworth College in Spokane, Wash., on Friday, then play the next night at Whitman College in Walla Walla, Wash.
