NASCAR: Battle of the Beer Cars Brewing

If the Budweiser car finishes the season ahead of the Miller Lite car, Miller Park will be renamed Budweiser Park for a 2008 series in Milwaukee between the same two teams.

(MILWAUKEE) - The long-standing "battle of the beer cars" on NASCAR tracks could take on added significance during the 2007 NASCAR Nextel Cup season if Anheuser-Busch is feeling confident about the performance of the #8 Budweiser team.

Miller Lite has announced its 2007 NASCAR challenge to Budweiser, this time putting naming rights to Miller Park on the line for a weekend series between the Milwaukee Brewers and the St. Louis Cardinals.

South Salem High Soccer Star Signs With Idaho

(MOSCOW, Idaho ) - Salem-News.com SportsIdaho women`s soccer coach Pete Showler has signed six high school seniors to letters-of-intent to attend the University of Idaho and play soccer for the Vandals next fall.

The signees include Anna Edmonds from South Salem High School.

Edmonds, a forward, spent 10 years with the Cascade FC “Tempest” in Salem, and had over 100 goals and 50 assists in her career.

Home Finale for Oregon Women Features No. 22 Cal and No. 9 Stanford

(EUGENE) - The Ducks, having clinched a .500 record, are in the final stretch of the regular season before taking part in the 2007 State Farm Pac-10 Tournament in San Jose, Calif., March 2nd-5th.

Oregon faces a pair of ranked opponents in No. 22 California and No. 9 Stanford this week and end the regular season away from McArthur Court with games at Washington State and Washington next week.

Beavers Head to Stanford, Cal This Weekend

The Beavers lead the all-time series with the Cardinal, 66-55.

(CORVALLIS) - The Oregon State men’s basketball team (10-16, 2-11 Pac-10), coming off a sweep of the season series against Arizona State, travels to Northern California this weekend for games at Stanford and California.

OSU has lost 13 straight at Maples Pavilion, last winning there in 1992-93.

Oregon State’s games can be heard live on the radio on the Beaver Sports Network including KEX 1190 AM in Portland/Salem and KEJO 1240 in Corvallis/Albany.

Both the Stanford and California games will be televised regionally by FSN.

(MONMOUTH) - Western Oregon University Wolves logoWestern Oregon women’s soccer coach Rod Fretz has announced the signing of Sprague High School standout Samantha Horvath to a National Letter of Intent.

Horvath is one of four players that the Wolves have signed since Feb. 7th, the first day that the NCAA allows high school seniors to ink on the dotted line.

Beavers Paces Pilots at Pat Hicks Invitational

(ST. GEORGE, Utah) - Senior Kevin Beavers fired a final-round 68 to finish in a tie for 11th place overall as the Portland Pilots tied for 13th at the Pat Hicks Thunderbird Invitational at Sunbrook Golf Club.

Host Southern Utah, which placed three golfers in the top 20, took home the team trophy after carding a 562 in the 18-team tournament.
