Oregon, Oregon State Women Meet in Civil War Series

The Ducks are 29-5 versus OSU at McArthur Court.

(EUGENE) - The Ducks and Beavers play twice this week, knocking out the season’s Civil War series in a span of five days.

The Civil War is big for obvious reasons, but even more so this time around as the two teams have identical 2-6 Pac-10 records and are tied for seventh place in the conference.

Oregon has the better record overall at 10-8, while the Beavers are 7-10.

(ATLANTA) - Rheem Manufacturing Company announced on Tuesday its sponsorship of the Richard Childress Racing No. 29 car for the 36-race NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series season.

Rheem will be featured prominently on the lower rear quarter panels of RCR’s No. 29 car driven by Kevin Harvick, 2006 NASCAR Busch Series Champion and major Cup Series contender.

Rheem becomes the major associate sponsor of the car, while Shell is the primary sponsor

Western Oregon Women Host Saints And Redhawks This Week

(MONMOUTH) - Western Oregon pulled off the upset thus far of the 2006-07 season with an 84-77 victory over defending conference champion Western Washington on Saturday night.

The victory snapped a 14-game losing streak for the Wolves, and also clipped a 27-game Great Northwest Athletic Conference skid.

WOU’s last win in conference play prior to Saturday night was on Feb. 12th, 2005, a 61-58 win over Seattle at the Physical Education Building.

No. 7 Oregon Faces Tough Road Test Against Washington, No. 20 WSU

The Ducks will be without the services of guard Aaron Brooks Thursday night against the Huskies'.

(EUGENE) - Matching the school’s best record ever at 18-1, as No. 7 Oregon hits the trail for four straight and six of its next eight.

First up is the annual trek across the Columbia River to play Washington on Thursday at 8:00 PM in Seattle.

Then the Ducks visit the Palouse for a 7:00 PM game against No. 20 Washington State on Saturday.

Kiffin Hired to Lead Raiders; Becomes NFL's Youngest Head Coach

(OAKLAND, Calif.) - Lane Kiffin will be formally introduced as Head Coach of The Oakland Raiders during a press conference on Tuesday.

With his appointment by Raiders owner Al Davis, Kiffin becomes the 16th head coach in franchise history and the youngest head coach in the NFL.

The 31-year old Kiffin is also the youngest Head Coach in Raider history.

Steelers Name Mike Tomlin Head Coach

Tomlin's first season as Steelers head coach will take place during the team's 75th Anniversary season.

(PITTSBURGH) - The Pittsburgh Steelers announced Monday the hiring of Mike Tomlin as the 16th head coach in team history.

Tomlin, 34, was the Minnesota Vikings' defensive coordinator in 2006 after spending the previous five seasons (2001-05) as defensive backs coach for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

He replaces Bill Cowher, who resigned Jan. 5th after 15 seasons as the Steelers' head coach.

Oregon State Softball Picked to Finish 4TH in Pac-10

Oregon was picked to finish 8th.

(WALNUT CREEK, Calif.) - Oregon State University’s softball team was picked to finish in fourth place in the Pacific-10 Conference for the 2007 season, as was announced Monday in a poll taken from the Pac-10 softball coaches.

The Beavers received 32 points in the voting, while defending national champion University of Arizona was picked to finish first with 47 points and five first place votes.

UCLA was a close second, with 45 points and three first place votes, while Arizona State came in third with 35 points.

Ganassi Racing Announces 2007 NASCAR Driver Lineup

(CONCORD, N.C.) - Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates announced Monday its 2007 driver lineup for its NASCAR NEXTEL Cup and Busch Series programs.

The multi-car team will run three NEXTEL Cup Series teams in 2007 with drivers David Stremme, Reed Sorenson and Juan Pablo Montoya, as well as two full-time Busch Series teams with its three Cup pilots and development drivers Bryan Clauson, Kevin Hamlin and Scott Lagasse, Jr.

“I have been waiting with much anticipation to the start of this season for some time now,” said team owner Chip Ganassi.
