Western Oregon Takes Down Alaska Fairbanks, 79-64

WOU men pick up first conference win with victory over the Nanooks.

(MONMOUTH) - Western Oregon held the conference’s top-scoring offense to 17 points under its average and picked up its first league win in the process, topping Alaska Fairbanks 79-64 on Thursday night at the Physical Education Building.

The Wolves move to 1-4 in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference with the win and improved to 6-10 overall.

The Nanooks fall to 2-2 in GNAC play and are now 11-7 on the season.

Oregon Travels to Oklahoma to Face Nation's Best

The Cowboys feature defending national champion Johny Hendricks at 165 lbs.

(EUGENE) - The Ducks (5-5, 1-3) face defending two-time defending national champion No. 4 Oklahoma State (9-3) Sunday and No. 12 Oklahoma on Saturday (7-3).

Oklahoma State has lost two straight dual matches and has dropped to 9-3 in duals on the season.

Oklahoma has also lost two straight dual matches, but they are still ranked #12 in the nation.

Warriors Tip Off Second Half of Conference Season at Albertson And Eastern Oregon

Both games can be heard in Salem on 90.3 FM KWBX.

(SALEM) - Corban’s women’s basketball team will tip off the second half of its Cascade Collegiate Conference season this week when the Warriors hit the road for the first of back-to-back weekends away from Salem with match ups against nationally-ranked Albertson College of Idaho on Friday and Eastern Oregon on Saturday.

Friday’s game will tip-off at 4:30 PM, while Saturday’s contest will get underway at 5:30 PM.

Corban and Albertson have met 27 times in the series history with the Lady Coyotes winning 16-out-of-27 meetings.

Salem, Dallas High School Stars Sign With Warriors For 2007 Season

The women's volleyball team at Corban is coming off a 7-18 overall record this past season, including a 4-14 showing in CCC action.

(SALEM) - Local high school stars Katie Hanson from South Salem High School and Teri Braun from Dallas High School have signed Letters of Intent for play women's soccer and women's volleyball respectively at Corban College beginning in 2007.

Hanson, a 5-foot-7 midfielder from South Salem High School, signed her national letter of intent following the conclusion of the Saxons' season in the quarterfinals of the state 6A tournament.

Braun, a 6-foot outside hitter from Dallas High School, signed her national letter of intent following the Dragons' season.

Clarkson will perform in the NEXTEL-sponsored show, which will be carried live on FOX Sports.

Beavers Hit The Road For Two Duals

The Beavers are unbeaten in Pac-10 duals this season.

(CORVALLIS) - Oregon State returns to the Rocky Mountain region this weekend, as the 19th-ranked Beavers (9-1 overall, 3-0 Pacific-10) will wrestle non-conference dual meets at Wyoming (1-5) on Saturday afternoon and Northern Colorado (3-4) on Saturday evening.

It’s OSU’s second trip to the Rockies this season; the Beavers swept four dual meets at Colorado Mines’ Jack Hancock Duals in November.

Oregon State is coming off a 23-9 win over Cal State-Fullerton last Sunday.

Pacific Women Wrestlers Head to California This Week

The Boxers dig into the meatiest part of their schedule with a trip to California and some of North America's top teams at the Lady Oak Duals and Lady Oaks Open.

(FOREST GROVE) - While much of the Pacific women's wrestling schedule has been sparse, the Boxers are in the meat of the most competition-heavy part of the slate with four competitions in January and three in February.

The Boxers compete on Friday at the Lady Oak Duals, followed by Saturday at the Lady Oaks Open.

Titilope Lawani led the way for the Boxers by capturing outstanding women's wrestler honors at the Oregon Classic, held Saturday at the Deschutes County Fairgrounds in Redmond.

The 65-year-old Parsons died Tuesday.

Oregon Begins Search For New Offensive Coordinator

Oregon finished the 2006 season with a 7-6 record after posting a 10-2 ledger the previous year.

(EUGENE) - University of Oregon football coach Mike Bellotti vowed to move quickly to fill the Ducks’ vacancy at offensive coordinator following Wednesday’s official announcement that Gary Crowton had resigned to fill the same position at Louisiana State.

The 49-year-old Crowton was brought in two years ago to help implement the spread option offense, which resulted in Oregon ranking among the nation’s top-25 in total offense and scoring offense each of his two seasons in Eugene.
