(DAYTONA BEACH, Florida) - On Wednesday, the second wave of NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series teams worked around the weather to wrap their three-day test.
Paul Menard, in the No. 15 Chevrolet for Dale Earnhardt Inc., posted the fastest time on Wednesday and for the entire test.
In the morning session, with the exception of Kurt Busch's speed in the Car of Tomorrow, three-time Daytona 500 champion Jeff Gordon posted the fastest speed with a lap of 184.596

Salem-News.com Sports (January 17, 2007 17:10)Memorial Service Set For NASCAR's Salem-News.com SPORTSParsons died from cancer on Tuesday. (CORNELIUS, NC) - A memorial to celebrate the life of NASCAR’s "Professor" Benny Parsons will be held on Friday at the Grace Covenant Church in Cornelius, NC.
Family, close friends and beloved members of the racing community who knew and loved Benny will be received in the 2:00 PM service.
Following the memorial, from 4:00 PM to 5:30 PM, race fans can pay respects.
In lieu of flowers, it was Benny’s wish that donations be made in his name to the: The Victory Junction Gang.

Benny was beloved by many people and your thoughts, prayers, and well wishes over the last few months have meant a great deal to him and to his family.

In one garage, there's Formula One racer turned NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series rookie Juan Pablo Montoya.
In the other garage, veteran 72-year-old racer James Hylton, who won the NEXTEL Cup Rookie of the Year title in 1966.

(CHARLOTTE, N.C.) - NASCAR Legend, champion and television announcer Benny Parsons died early Tuesday at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte from lung cancer.
He was 65.
Parsons was last a NASCAR announcer/analyst on NBC and TNT.
He became famous as the 1973 NASCAR Winston Cup (now NEXTEL Cup) champion.
He was nicknamed The Professor in part because of his popular remarks and relaxed demeanor.

Piscitelli, of Boca Raton, Fla., was a First Team All-Pac-10 Conference selection last season.
Koets, an offensive tackle from Santa Ana, Calif., also started 37 straight games.

(PORTLAND) - Portland Winter Hawks’ defensemen Ty Ariss and Bo Montgomery have been chosen to play for Team Saskatchewan in the upcoming Canada Winter Games in Whitehorse, Yukon Territory, February 23rd-March 10th.
Men’s hockey only lasts for several days in that span, so Ariss and Montgomery, and any other Winter Hawks named to other provincial teams, will not miss as many WHL games as those dates indicate.
