Salem-News.com Sports (December 04, 2006 09:31)Oregon State Moves Into Top-25 Polls Salem-News.com SPORTSFollow Oregon State Athletics on Salem-News.com SPORTS (CORVALLIS) - The Oregon State football team (9-4) is ranked 24th in the AP Top 25 and tied for 25th in the USA TODAY Top 25 Coaches’ Poll today.
The Beavers, who haven’t been ranked in either poll since the week of October 20th, 2003, capitalized on Saturday night’s 35-32 victory at then-No. 24 Hawaii to move into the Top 25.
OSU has been in the “Also Receiving Votes” category several times this season.
Oregon State finishes the season against Missouri in the Brut Sun Bowl, December 29th.

(EL PASO, Texas) - The University of Missouri has accepted an invitation to play in the 73rd annual Brut Sun Bowl, announced Sun Bowl Association president John H. Folmer.
“We are thrilled to have the opportunity to host the University of Missouri in El Paso for the 73rd annual Brut Sun Bowl,” said John H. Folmer, president of the Sun Bowl Association.
“The Tigers bring in one of the nation’s most explosive offenses and one of the NCAA’s stingiest defenses. Missouri is the total package.”

(CORVALLIS) - The longest regular season in Oregon State history concludes Saturday night at Aloha Stadium against the No. 24 ranked Hawaii Warriors.
Both teams are headed to postseason, Oregon State accepted a conditional invitation last Friday to play in the 73rd Brut Sun Bowl Dec. 29th in El Paso, Texas while Hawaii will play in the Sheraton Hawaii Bowl Dec. 24th at Aloha Stadium.
Hawaii has won two in a row to even the series at three wins each.
The Warriors defeated Oregon State 23-17 at the 1999 O’ahu Bowl at Aloha Stadium -- the game marked the first bowl appearance for Oregon State since the 1965 Rose Bowl game.

(CORVALLIS) - The Oregon State men’s basketball team begins a stretch of nine straight home games -- including its final six non-conference matchups of the season -- this Saturday against Fresno State.
The Beavers won’t leave home during the month of December. The nine-game homestand will equal the longest in school history (1949-50).
The Bulldogs won their first five games of 2006-07 by an average of 21.8 points, with victories over Winston-Salem State, South Alabama, UC Irvine, San Francisco and Arkansas-Pine Bluff. Read Full Article

The Ducks (6-0) were led by Aaron Brooks who scored 15 points.
Bryce Taylor had 14 points for Oregon, who are 6-0 for the first time since the 2002-03 season.
The victory was also the first ever for Oregon on the road against a ranked team in the Eastern time zone.

The game is scheduled to kickoff at 5:00 PM (PST) and will be televised nationally by ESPN (EUGENE) - Tickets for the University of Oregon’s Dec. 21st appearance in the Pioneer PureVision Las Vegas Bowl will go on sale to the general public at 9:00 AM Friday, according to the school’s Director of Athletic Ticket Sales Garrett Klassy.
All reserved seats are $50 and may be purchased through the Ducks’ athletics department official website at goducks.com, by phone at (541) 346-4461 or 800-WEBFOOT, or in person at the Casanova Center Athletic Ticket Office.
Oregon football season ticket holders and Duck Athletic Fund donors have until Friday to take advantage of their priority seating status for ticket purchases.

(EUGENE) - The Ducks (17-11, 7-11 Pac-10) are on their way to the NCAA Division I Women’s Volleyball Championship for the first time in 17 years and fifth time in school history.
Oregon faces No. 12 Hawaii from the Western Athletic Conference at 5:00 PM on Friday at the Walter Pyramid on the campus of Long Beach State.
The Oregon volleyball team has clinched its first winning season since 1990 and finished tied for sixth in the Pac-10 Conference, its highest place in the standings since a tie for fourth in 1989.

(MONMOUTH) - Western Oregon senior tight end Kevin Boss was named to the Daktronics, Inc. NCAA Division II All-Northwest Region football team, announced Wednesday.
Boss was selected to the second team of prestigious squad, which includes teams from the northern part of the states, from Washington to Michigan.
The Philomath native was named to the team, despite missing the Wolves final four games with a shoulder injury. In just six contests, he had 33 catches for 403 yards and five touchdowns.

The game is scheduled to kickoff at 5:00 PM (PST) and will be televised nationally by ESPN.
This will mark Oregon’s 10th bowl game in 12 seasons under head coach Mike Bellotti as well as the program’s second Las Vegas Bowl appearance.
The Ducks last played in the game in 1997, defeating Air Force, 41-13.
