(NEWBERG) - Oregon State had five returning starters nail down their spots in this year’s lineup as the Beavers held their annual Intrasquad Meet on Thursday night at Newberg High School. Back in the lineup when OSU opens its season against Portland State on Tuesday at 7:00 PM in Gill Coliseum will be Bobby Pfennigs at 133 pounds, Kyle Larson at 141 pounds, Jeremy Larson at 174 pounds, Kyle Bressler at 184 pounds and Ty Watterson at heavyweight.
Joining them will be 125-pounder Jake Gonzales, 149-pounder Derek Kipperberg, 157-pounder Andy Hall, 165-pounder Brett Arand and 197-pounder Travis Gardner after they also won matches in front of approximately 350 fans in McGrath Gymnasium. Read Full Article

(EUGENE) - University of Oregon head coach Bev Smith announced two more signings on Thursday as Washington prep guard Nia Jackson and California high school post Nicole Canepa submitted National Letters of Intent to join the Ducks in 2007-08.
Jackson, a 5-7 point guard from Chief Sealth High School in Seattle, was ranked 79th among the nation’s top 100 recruits by Blue Star Basketball, a top women’s basketball recruiting organization.

(MONMOUTH) - Three Western Oregon football players have been named to the ESPN the Magazine All-District 8 College Division Academic team.
All players on the District 8 squad are now eligible for the Academic All-American squad, which will be announced later this month.

(LEXINGTON, Ky.) - Four Linfield Wildcats have been recognized for outstanding seasons with recognition on the all-conference and all-region teams.
Middle blocker Lauren Kreiger (Sr., Olympia, Wash.), who led the 14th-ranked Wildcats in attacks (727), kills (298) and blocks (75) was honored by the American Volleyball Coaches Assocation with a spot on the West Region all-star team.

(McMINNVILLE) - Scott Brosius has been named to succeed Scott Carnahan as head baseball coach at Linfield College. Brosius will take over the program from his former college coach on July 1st, 2007.
In September, Carnahan announced his intention to step down as varsity coach following the 2007 season.
Brosius, 40, was a natural choice to succeed Carnahan, having served under Carnahan on the baseball coaching staff for five seasons.

(EUGENE) - Two of California’s top high school basketball players, guard Kamyron Brown and small forward Drew Viney (pronounced VY-nee), have signed National Letters of Intent with Oregon, head coach Ernie Kent announced Wednesday.
"Signing Kamyron and Drew will allow us to continue to play fast and run and shoot the ball well for years to come," said Kent. "They both come from winning programs that emphasize hard work, which should ease their transition to the college game."

Karmen Holladay, of Corvallis, OR, Erin Guzy, of Beaverton, OR, Audrey Roderfeld, of Vista, CA, and McKenna Lowe, of Tustin, CA, will join the OSU squad for the 2008 season.
