(McMINNVILLE) - Fresh from capturing a share of its second Northwest Conference title in four years, the Linfield Wildcats are headed to southern California this week to compete in the NCAA Division III West Regional, hosted by the University of La Verne.
NWC rival Pacific Lutheran (20-6), which tied Linfield for the NWC crown, received an at-large berth and will meet sixth-seeded Redlands (20-6) in the first round at 6:00 PM.

Salem-News.com Sports (November 06, 2006 10:02)Women's Soccer: Ducks Claim Second Place in Pac-10 Salem-News.com SPORTSSunday’s win marked Oregon’s first-ever sweep of the L.A. schools, and just the third Pac-10 sweep in program history (EUGENE) - Senior Nicole Garbin scored twice as Oregon closed out the regular season by defeating USC 3-1 Sunday before 627 fans at Pape’ Field. Coupled with California’s 1-0 defeat of Stanford, the Ducks finished second in the Pac-10, a high mark for the program by a landslide.
Oregon, 12-6-2 overall and 6-1-2 in the Pac-10, awaits its first-ever NCAA Tournament bid. The 2006 NCAA Tournament selection show will be broadcast Monday at noon on ESPNews.
"It’s senior day; it’s my day," said Garbin." All the luck was on our side. But today was kind of different because all the alumni were here and they’ve never been to the NCAA Tournament so I just felt like I kind of owed it to them."
Sunday certainly was a statement game for Oregon’s two seniors.

Tip-off is scheduled for 2:00 PM in Gill Coliseum. (CORVALLIS) - Freshman guard Jasmine Smith scored 26 points to lead five Oregon State players in double figures as the Beavers stormed past Western Oregon by a 96-44 score in Sunday’s exhibition women’s basketball game.
All nine Beaver players scored on the night as the balanced OSU attack led from start to finish.
Western Oregon closed within two points (14-12) on just one occasion early in the first half, but Oregon State responded by using a 42-14 run over the final 11-minutes of the frame to take a commanding 56-26 lead into the locker room.

(CORVALLIS) - Five Oregon State men’s basketball players reached double-figures to lead the squad to a 92-76 win over Saint Martin’s on Sunday afternoon at Gill Coliseum. It was the Beavers’ lone exhibition game prior to the start of the 2006-07 regular season.
Junior forward Marcel Jones had 19 points, followed by junior forward Sasa Cuic with 18, redshirt freshman guard Josh Tarver with 14, freshman guard Vojin Svilar with 11 and senior center Kyle Jeffers with 10.

(SALEM) - The Willamette University women’s soccer team, 16-2-2 on the season, has been selected to receive one of 19 at-large bids to the 2006 NCAA Division III National Tournament, which will feature a 60-team bracket. Pairings and sites for first round and second round games will be released by the NCAA on Monday.
Willamette will be making its fifth trip to the NCAA National Tournament since 1998, but it is the Bearcats’ first berth since 2001, when WU advanced to the semifinals. Head Coach Jim Tursi, now in his 14th year at Willamette, also led the Bearcats to five consecutive NAIA Tournament berths from 1993-97.

Rob Klinkhammer’s power play goal off a pretty feed by 16-year-old rookie Tristan King was Portland’s lone goal. The Hawks had a tough time generating any pressure on Seattle all night as the Hawks were outshot 26-19.

(TACOMA, Wash.) - Junior middle blocker Monica Groves provided 16 kills to lead the University of Puget Sound to a 30-23, 30-23, 30-27 victory over Willamette University, in a Northwest Conference match at Memorial Fieldhouse on Saturday, Nov. 4th. Groves made just two attacking errors on 32 total attempts and earned a .438 hitting percentage to carry the load for UPS.

Willamette improved to 2-6 overall, 2-3 in the NWC. Lewis & Clark dropped to 0-8 on the season, 0-5 in the NWC.
Willamette’s home crowd at McCulloch Stadium saw WU earn the most points scored by the Bearcats in the history of the WU-L&C series. It also saw the most points tallied by the Bearcats since a 63-24 win over the University of Puget Sound during the 2002 season. Read Full Article
