(BELLINGHAM, Wash.) - Western Oregon owned a statistical edge in every category of Saturday’s football game against the host Western Washington Vikings -- except the final score.
Western Washington claimed a 17-14 win in front of 1,305 fans at Civic Stadium, sending the Wolves to its third loss of the season (5-3), while the Vikings improved to 3-6 on the year.
The Wolves had 415 yards of total offense to Western Washington’s 225. But WOU also had bigger numbers in two areas that hurt them severely.

(PORTLAND) - Willamette senior swimmer Becca Fischer took fourth place in the women's pentathlon at the Northwest Conference Sprints, hosted by Lewis & Clark College on Friday.
Fischer earned her fourth place finish by registering a spot in the top 15 of all four strokes plus the individual medley.
The five component times were added together to determine the pentathlon leaders. Another Willamette senior, Kei Otawa, achieved 16th place in the men's pentathlon.

(CORVALLIS) - The Oregon Ducks moved one step closer to an NCAA tournament appearance with a 3-0 Civil War drubbing of Oregon State in Pac-10 volleyball action Friday at Gill Coliseum.
The Ducks (16-4, 6-4 Pac-10) won by scores of 30-24, 30-22 and 30-21, sweeping the season series with the Beavers (3-16, 0-10) for the first time since 1996.
“I thought OSU played very well, and I’m not just saying that,” said second-year coach Jim Moore. “We had a plan coming in here and we did an excellent job of executing it.”

(PALO ALTO, Calif.) - The Oregon State women’s soccer team went on the road and battled #14 Stanford to a standstill for an hour, but the Cardinal scored twice midway through the second half and posted a 2-0 Pacific-10 Conference victory at Maloney Field on Friday evening.
Friday was the first of four straight games against ranked teams for the Beavers (8-7-2, 1-5). They next play at #24 California on Sunday at 1:00 PM.
The statistics were pretty even after a scoreless first half, as OSU took three shots to Stanford’s five. But then the Cardinal clamped down defensively, as the Beavers were not credited with a second-half shot. Read Full Article

(EUGENE) - Oregon goalkeeper Jessie Chatfield and the Oregon defense fended off 16 shots as the Ducks fought to a 0-0 tie with California Friday afternoon at Edwards Stadium.
Chatfield made four saves in helping Oregon record its school-record eighth shutout of the season.
"Jessie was definitely our player of the game," said Oregon coach Tara Erickson. "She made some key saves when the moment came up.

Game time is set for 7:00 PM. (EUGENE) - Three front court players return from seeing action on last season’s squad: Ray Schafer, Adam Zahn and Maarty Leunen.
Zahn could be a key to Oregon’s success this season. He is the lone senior on the front court and one of only two players to appear in all 33 games last season (Brandon Lincoln was the other).
The aggressive rebounder started 13 games last season, including all three in the Pac-10 tournament. The Redonondo Union High School graduate finished the season averaging 3.6 points and 2.5 rebounds per game.

The season has been a year of ups and downs for both teams.
The Olympians (6-3 overall, 5-0 CVC) opened the season with three straight losses, and most wrote the team off of making another appearance in the state playoffs.
