(EUGENE) - Oregon senior forward Nicole Garbin has been named the Pac-10 Women's Soccer Player of the Week for Oct. 17th-23rd, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced Tuesday.
The Ducks only played one match over the weekend, but it proved historical for both Garbin and the team. Garbin scored a golden goal 3:50 into overtime to lead Oregon to a 2-1 defeat of rival Oregon State. It was her 31st career goal, tying Chalise Baysa (1998-01) for the all-time Oregon record.

(BANDON) - UCLA held off USC by five strokes to win the team title and Oregon’s Matt Ma capped a strong fall by tying for fifth at the third annual Big Ten/Pac-10 Challenge, played Tuesday at Pacific Dunes.
USC’s Jamie Lovemark led from wire-to-wire to win the individual title. The freshman shot the low round of the day Tuesday, a 4-under 67, and finished the tournament at 4-under 209. Lovemark’s 67 was three strokes off the course record of 64, held by former PGA Tour golfer Scott Simpson.

The Ducks’ last win at OSU was Oct. 20th, 2000. (EUGENE) - The Oregon Ducks (15-4, 5-4 Pac-10) start the second half of the Pac-10 season with a trip to Corvallis Friday to take on Oregon State in the lone match of the week for both schools.
The Ducks split a pair of matches in the Bay Area, taking down then No. 8 California, 3-1, before bowing out against No. 3 Stanford, 0-3. UO’s win against the Golden Bears was its first against a top 10 team since 1989 (No. 6 Stanford).

The Beavers will practice from 8:00 to 10:00 AM in Gill Coliseum. The public is invited to attend and admission is free. The OSU football game is at 12:30 PM at Reser Stadium.

The other two tournaments will be held in the spring. (BLUE RIVER) - Willamette won the Northwest Conference Fall Classic Tournament held Sunday and Monday at Tokatee Golf Club.
The Bearcats won with a two-day total of 689 (346-343).
Willamette's 689 edged the University of Puget Sound's 690 (339-351) by a single stroke. Third place went to Linfield College at 692 (350-342), with four place going to Whitworth College at 694 (338-356). Pacific Lutheran University and Pacific University tied for fifth place at 716, while George Fox University finished in seventh place at 854.

In the conference challenge portion of the tournament, the Pac-10 holds a slim 16 stroke lead. (BANDON) - UCLA used a strong first round and then held on through a sunny but windy afternoon to grab the overnight lead at the Big Ten/Pac-10 Challenge, played Monday at Pacific Dunes.
The Bruins covered the par-71 6,633-yard course in an even par 284 as a team in the morning, and then in the afternoon, with winds blowing from the north at 20 miles per hour, carded a 310 for a 594 total.

Whitworth scored four goals in the first half to exact revenge on Pacific Saturday, as the Pirates posted a 4-0 victory at the Whitworth Soccer Field. The first half flurry stunned the defensive-minded Pacific squad, with the Pirates outshooting the Boxers 21-14.
