College Cross Country: Ducks Ready For Saturday’s Pac-10 Championships at Stanford

“The Farm” was the perennial host of the event 23 times over the span of 25 years from 1973-97, while Fresno, Calif., was the other site to host the event in 1978 and 1982. The event began a rotation among conference schools in 1998.

(EUGENE) - Ducks lady runnersThe University of Oregon men’s and women’s cross country teams open the postseason this weekend at the Pacific-10 Conference Championships, hosted by Stanford University on the Stanford Golf Course on Saturday.

The women’s 6,000-meter is set for a 10:00 AM start, and the men’s 8,000-meter race will begin at 11:00 AM.

Student Tickets Available For OSU Dad’s Weekend Game Versus USC

Approximately 800 general public tickets remain for this Saturday’s game and approximately 6,000 for the Nov. 4th Homecoming game vs. the Arizona State Sun Devils. Tickets are $60 for USC and $36 for Arizona State.

(CORVALLIS) - Student tickets for Saturday’s Dad’s Weekend football game vs. the No. 2 USC Trojans will be available beginning at 7:00 AM Monday at the Gill Coliseum front ticket office, directly across from the parking structure.

The ticket office will return to normal business hours, 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m., for the rest of the week. Students must present current OSU identification when obtaining tickets.

Men’s Golf: Linfield Wins Fall Championship

The best four Linfield scorers shot an aggregate 298 each day for a total of 596, 11 strokes ahead of defending conference champion Whitworth.

(SISTERS) - Linfield's Tyler NelsonLinfield took a big first step toward a Northwest Conference men’s golf championship on Sunday, winning the Fall Classic at Aspen Lakes Golf Club.

Tyler Nelson was medalist for the 36-hole tournament with a total of three-under-par 141, which included a five-under 67 on Saturday. He shot two-over 74 on Sunday.

Linfield’s Jeff Nigro was third in individual standings with 73-75—148. Joel Rychard was the Wildcats’ low scorer Sunday with one-over-par 73 and captain Kyle Henderson was fourth at 157.

(TACOMA, Wash.) - George Fox soccerGeorge Fox University goalkeeper Jessica Cardwell fended off a furious Pacific Lutheran University offensive attack during two 10-minute overtime periods, enabling the Bruins to hang on for 0-0 tie with the Lutes in a Northwest Conference women’s soccer match Sunday afternoon at the PLU Soccer Field.

The teams battled on relatively even terms through 90 minutes of regulation play, Pacific Lutheran taking 12 shots to seven for George Fox.

Men’s Soccer: OSU, SDSU Play to 2-2 Tie

The Beavers now take a week off, then end the regular season with a non-conference game at Cal State Northridge on Tuesday, Oct. 31st, followed by the Pac-10 finale at home against Washington on Friday, Nov. 3rd.

(CORVALLIS) - OSU Men's soccer playerThe Oregon State men’s soccer team ended its losing streak in Pacific-10 Conference play on Sunday afternoon at Lorenz Field, but had to settle for a 2-2 tie against San Diego State.

The Beavers (5-10-2, 0-8-1) began the conference season with eight straight losses.

They were poised to win this one after sophomore forward Robby Christner scored in the 84th minute to give OSU a 2-1 lead, but San Diego State’s Evan Toft tied the game in the 88th minute.

(STANFORD, Calif.) - Oregon Ducks golferThe duo of senior Kim McCready and sophomore Cathryn Bristow posted top-15 individual finishes in final day action Sunday in the Stanford Intercollegiate, and helped the University of Oregon women's golf team climb two spots to finish sixth against an all-star field in its final stop of the fall campaign.

The Ducks shot a two-over third and final-round score of 286 Sunday to finish the three rounds with a score of 878 (+26) after they opened with first- and second rounds of 297 and 295 Friday and Saturday.

Everett Doubles Up Portland 4-2

Everett finished the night 3 for 8 on the man advantage while Portland went 1 for 6.

(PORTLAND) - Winterhawks logoThe Everett Silvertips got three power play goals to propel the visiting team to a 4-2 win over the Portland Winter Hawks on Saturday night at the Memorial Coliseum in front of 4168 fans.

Everett got goals from Jason Fransoo, Zach Hamill, Eric Doyle and Moises Gutierrez while Portland countered with single markers from Rob Klinkhammer and the first career goal of 17 year old forward Matt Sokol.

Goaltender Chris Ward made his first ever WHL start in net for Portland and stopped 26 of 30 shots against the team that drafted him in the 4th round of the Bantam Draft.
