(SALEM) - Willamette University and Linfield College allowed few quality scoring changes during their Northwest Conference women's soccer battle on Sunday at Sparks Field, but the Bearcats scored on a set play with less than seven minutes remaining in the first half to defeat the Wildcats, 1-0.
Willamette remained undefeated, improving to 9-0-1 overall and 6-0-0 in the NWC. Linfield dropped to 3-5-2 on the season, 1-3-2 in the NWC.

(MONMOUTH) - Western Oregon wrapped up a series of six matches in 12 days with a 3-1 non-conference women’s soccer victory over George Fox on Sunday afternoon at the WOU Soccer Field.
The Wolves scored the first three goals of the match, and Maggie Kuzmer got the scoring started with a goal at 22:23, when a Kristen Werhane shot from two yards out was saved by GFU keeper Jessica Campbell, but Kuzmer took the rebound and popped it into the net.

With the win, the Storm improve to 3-2 in league play and 9-12 overall.
Leah Gradwohl and Tracie Knowlton led Chemeketa with 27 kills.

Scharer passed for 338 yards, including two in the first half. (McMINNVILLE) - Linfield quarterback Trevor Scharer passed for three touchdowns and ran for another during his first career start, lifting the Wildcats to a 42-14 Northwest Conference victory over Willamette Saturday at sun-soaked Maxwell Field.
The win, Linfield’s first of the 2006 season, was its 24th consecutive victory in conference play. Willamette fell to 1-4, 1-1 in the NWC.

The 14th-ranked Oregon Ducks looked well rested, and their offense and defense was just as hot as the weather Saturday in Tempe, cruising to a 48-13 over the Arizona State Sun Devils.
The Ducks defense, decimated by injuries this season, held the Sun Devils to just 33 passing yards and 178 yards of total offense.
Oregon sacked Arizona State quarterback Rudy Carpenter six times.

(PORTLAND) - Junior Tiffany Smith scored a golden goal with 3:07 left in the second overtime to lift Oregon past Portland State 1-0 on a warm Friday afternoon at Delta Park’s Strasser Field.
The Ducks (6-4-0) outshot the Vikings 20-5, but could not break the PSU defense until freshman Rianna Mansfield crossed a ball through traffic to Smith on the right side, who beat Viking goalkeeper Rachel Jarvis from 10 yards out.
"When I saw the ball coming to me, I knew I had a player on my back, so I just turned and kicked the heck out of it," said Smith, the Eugene, Ore., native and Sheldon High graduate who played at Portland State her freshman season prior to transferring Oregon in 2005.

(KANSAS CITY, Kansas) - Kasey Kahne continued his mastery of Kansas Speedway by winning the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup pole for Sunday's Banquet 400 presented by ConAgra Foods.
Kahne's lap of 178.377 mph comes on the heels of his NASCAR Busch Series victory here last year.
The pole was Kahne's fifth of the year, tying him for the series lead with Kurt Busch. Kahne also has won five races, which leads all drivers in the series.
