(NEWBERG) - Giving 7th-ranked Linfield College one of its sternest tests of the season, the George Fox University Bruins put the Wildcats in a two-games-to-one hole for the first time all year before the visitors rallied for a 3-2 win over their Yamhill County rivals in a Northwest Conference women’s volleyball match Friday night here at the Wheeler Sports Center’s Miller Gym.
The Bruins fell to the Wildcats 30-23, 22-30, 30-27, 19-30, 5-15, dropping to 3-12 overall with their eighth setback in a row and 0-5 in the conference. The Wildcats, pushed to five games for only the second time this season, improved their best start ever to 13-0 overall and 6-0 in the league.

(SALEM) - Junior Caylin Goss, sophomore Chelsea Reeher, and sophomore Jessica McGraw each recorded 8 kills, as Corban's women's volleyball team swept Cascade, 3-0 (30-11, 30-10, 30-23), on Saturday night to pick up its first Cascade Collegiate Conference victory of the season and extend its winning streak to two matches.
In the opening game, Corban hit a season and match-high .556 (17-2-27) thanks to a match-high 17 kills and a mere 2 hitting errors. The Warriors jumped out to a quick 10-1 advantage behind three service aces by senior libero Becky Horn.

(SAN DIEGO, Calif.) - The Oregon State men’s soccer team suffered a hard-luck loss on Friday afternoon, as San Diego State scored in the 76th minute to post a 2-1 Pacific-10 Conference victory at the SDSU Sports Deck.
OSU Coach Dana Taylor was pleased with his team’s performance, other than the two goals allowed.
“Guys played well and we fought hard,” he said. “It was a good performance on the day, but a hard loss. We made a mistake in the back late in the game. We just made two basic mistakes defending-wise. Other than that, the game played out pretty well.”

After a rocky start to the season, 0-3, the Olympians, 2-3 overall, 2-0 CVC, led 20-7 at half, and cruised in the second half to defeat McKay, Friday night at Sprague.
The Olympians rushed for 362 yards on 52 carries, and had 419 yards of total offense.
Sprague’s defense held McKay to 133 rushing yards, and 277 total yards.
