Willamette Football to be Broadcast on Full Access Sports

Willamette begins the 2006 season on September 2nd with a home date with Western Oregon.

(SALEM) - Full Access Sports and Willamette University have entered into agreement to have all nine of the Bearcats 2006 football games streamed on FullAccessSports.com.

Longtime Bearcat football announcers Mike Allegre and Craig Spivey will provide the play-by-play.

Pacific Announces 2006 Athletic Hall of Fame Class

A pair of All-Americans, the school's first wrestling champion and a pair of conference players of the year highlight the University's 15th Athletic Hall of Fame induction class.

(FOREST GROVE) - Hall of FamersA pair of All-Americans and a past NCAA regional champion lead the 15th induction class of the Pacific Athletic Hall of Fame.

Baseball All-American Warren Arakaki, basketball All-American Brett Jefferies and NCAA Pacific Coast wrestling champion Chuck Peterson lead class of six individuals who will be honored in a ceremony on Sat., Oct. 14th at 7:00 PM, at Pacific's Taylor-Meade Performing Arts Center.

An invitation-only dinner and reception for inductees and current Hall of Fame members will precede the ceremony.

Horn Sets Single Match Digs Record at Region I Challenge

The Warriors will be next in action on Friday when they kick off conference action at Eastern Oregon beginning at 7:00 PM in La Grande.

(LEWISTON, Idaho) - Becky HornDespite a single match digs record of 49 for junior libero Becky Horn versus Lewis-Clark State, Corban's women's volleyball team seemed to struggle offensively at the 2006 NAIA Region I Challenge this weekend.

The Warriors opened on Friday showing no ill effects offensively thanks to a 3-0 (30-19, 32-30, 30-15) sweep of Frontier Conference member Montana State-Northern.

2006 Oregon Ducks Football Preview: Offensive Line Ready For Battle

(EUGENE) - Ducks footballAll five of last year’s starters in the offensive line return from a unit that cut the number of quarterbacks sacks allowed in half (20) from 2004 (41), as well as six of its top nine receivers and a pair of battle tested quarterbacks.

The quintet of returning linemen is led by senior center Enoka Lucas (6-4, 299). The two-year starter earned second-team all-conference accolades a year ago and has been mentioned among the Outland Trophy hopefuls prior to the season, which is awarded to the nation’s top interior lineman.

Senior guard Palauni Ma Sun (6-6, 335), juniors Josh Tschirgi (6-4, 311) and Geoff Schwartz (6-7, 340), and sophomore tackle Max Unger (6-5, 296) also return.

Ducks Take Oregon Kickoff Classic Crown, Beat Portland State

The Ducks next three matches are on the road, starting with a trip to Long Beach State on Wednesday.

(EUGENE) - Ducks womens volleyballThe University of Oregon volleyball team took the championship match of the Oregon Kickoff Classic on Sunday, downing intrastate rival Portland State in five games at McArthur Court.

The Ducks (2-0) won 30-26, 33-31, 30-32, 26-30 and 15-11, staving off a spirited comeback from the pesky Vikings (1-1).

Oregon was staring at match point in Game 3 leading 29-25, but Portland State was able to escape being swept and used momentum to grab Game 4 as well.

Wolves Drop Soccer Opener to Seawolves

Western Oregon will next travel to take on Chico State on Friday, September 1st, start time is 7:30 PM.

(MONMOUTH) - WOU soccer in actionWestern Oregon survived a scoreless first half but a barrage of Sonoma State goals did the Wolves in after the break as the Seawolves won the women's soccer season opener for both schools on Saturday afternoon at the WOU Soccer Field, 3-0.

Sonoma State controlled the ball nearly the entire match and held a 37-7 shot margin over the hosts.

The match was scoreless after the first half of play but Sonoma State scored just six minutes into the second stanza. Katie Houle found Courtney Oates on the corner setting up a header into the top of the net.

OSU Settles For 1-1 Tie With UNLV

OSU (0-1-1) comes home next weekend to host the OSU Nike Invitational, which also includes Cal State Northridge, UAB and Northern Colorado.

(PULLMAN, Wash.) - Soccer ball artThe Oregon State women’s soccer team was one second away from its first victory of the season, but UNLV tied the game at 89:59 and the two teams settled for a 1-1 tie at the WSU Cougar Classic on Sunday afternoon.

OSU freshman Melissa Peck scored her first collegiate goal in the first half to give OSU a 1-0 lead, and it stayed that way until the very end of regulation, when UNLV’s Brie Kuhne put one in from eight yards away with just one second left on the clock.

“It’s obviously disappointing to give up a goal in that fashion,” OSU Coach Steve Fennah said.

OSU & Michigan State Win Again at Diadora Classic

(CORVALLIS) - The Oregon State men’s soccer team earned a 2-1 win over Sacramento State and captured first place in the 2006 Diadora Classic on Saturday night at Lorenz Field. In the first game of the night, Michigan State won in overtime for the second time in two days with its 2-1 win over UC Riverside.

Although not a true tournament, Oregon State earned first place in the Diadora Classic due to the final tiebreaker. The Beavers and Michigan State each won twice and had a +2 goal differential, but OSU scored a total of four goals and MSU had three.

Junior forward Nick Webb (Bellingham, Wash./Squalicum HS/Western Washington) scored both of tonight’s goals for the Beavers, who improved to 2-0 for the first time since 2002.
