Wolves Continue Regional Roll, Top Mesa

Kevin Corrigan goes the distance in 6-2 Western Oregon baseball win.

(KEIZER) - Kevin Corrigan pitched a complete game and Coubi Jiles had four hits and drove in five runs as Western Oregon remained unbeaten at the NCAA Division II West Region Baseball Championships with a 6-2 win over Mesa State.

The win improved WOU`s record to 40-14 on the season and keeps them on the winner`s side of the 6-team bracket. The Wolves will next play at noon on Saturday against the winner of tonight`s Chico State-Cal State LA game.

No. 7 OSU Rallies For 2-1 Victory Over Nevada in NCAA Regional First Round

(CORVALLIS) - No. 7 ranked Oregon State rallied back for a dramatic 2-1 seventh inning victory over University of Nevada in Friday`s opening round of the NCAA Regional Softball Tournament in Corvallis.

Beaver All-American pitcher Brianne McGowan struck out 10 batters and sophomore Cambria Miranda went deep to spark the OSU offense to victory.

Nevada (33-32) took the early lead behind a lead-off solo home run from Cindy Elkins in the top of the third inning.

Oregon State (39-13) mounted a two-out rally in the bottom half of the frame behind back-to-back singles from Miranda and Mia Longfellow and loaded the bases after Adrienne Alo was hit by a pitch from Nevada ace Jordan McPherson (22-21).

Wolves Hold on For Region Baseball Win

Western Oregon fights off Colorado State-Pueblo for 5-4 victory.

(KEIZER) - Reliever Andrew Renyer got the final three outs in the ninth to save the game for starter Nick Waechter as Western Oregon escaped with a 5-4 win over Colorado State - Pueblo Thursday to complete the opening day of the NCAA Division II West Regional baseball tournament at Volcanoes Stadium.

The Wolves (39-14) will now play Mesa State Friday at 3:30 p.m. in the second round. Colorado State-Pueblo (35-23) will take on Fort Hays State at noon in a loser-out game. Chico State and Cal State L.A. will complete Day 2 of the tournament with a 7:00 PM contest.

Oregon State Softball Has Six Players Receive All-PAC Recognition

Junior Pitcher Brianne McGowan and sophomore utility player Cambria Miranda each earn first team accolades.

Spurs Avoid Elimination With 1-Point Win

(SAN ANTONIO – AP) - Manu Ginobili had a key steal and followed with a key offensive rebound in the final minute as the Spurs held off the Mavericks 98-97 in Game 5 to stay alive in the Western Conference semifinals Wednesday night

Tim Duncan scored a season-high 36 points and added 12 rebounds and three blocks. Tony Parker added 27 points for San Antonio.

Susan Parkman Named Head Coach of Bearcat Rowing Team

(SALEM) - Susan Parkman, who stepped in to guide the Willamette University rowing program on an interim basis earlier this year, has officially been named the new head coach of Bearcat rowing, Athletic Director Mark Majeski said Wednesday.

Parkman took over the team just weeks before the start of the spring rowing season when the previous coach resigned.

She will remain as Head Coach for the 2006-2007 school year.

Parkman brings an impressive list of credentials that includes a stint as assistant coach of the 2004 Olympic Rowing team.

She also coached at Seattle's Lakeside School where her varsity girl's team had several rowers place at nationals...

Stampede Holding Fan Event Thursday at Les Schwab Tire Center on Lancaster

(SALEM) - The Salem Stampede's "Street Team" will be at Les Schwab Tire Center on Lancaster Drive on Thursday.

Stampede staff, basketball and dance teams will be meeting and greeting fans, waving signs, raffling off merchandise and selling tickets for the final two games.

They will have a tent and a DJ playing music as well.

WOU Track and Field Update

Next meet: NCAA Division II National Championships, Emporia, Kansas, May 25th-27th.

(MONMOUTH) - Three Western Oregon athletes qualified in four events for the NCAA Division II National Championships.

Bridget Johnson will compete in the heptathlon and javelin, Nini Callan will also compete in the javelin and Anthony Marin will throw the hammer.
