Signs a one-year contract with the Bears for the 2007 franchise tender amount of $7.2 million.

Chad Rothford went 3-for-5 with three RBIs for the Volcanoes.

(KEIZER, Ore. ) - Volcanoes baseball logoShane Jordan went 3-for-4 with a grand slam and three runs scored as Salem-Keizer defeated visiting Yakima, 14-9, on Wednesday.

Jordan belted his third home run in the third inning as the Volcanoes (30-6) jumped out to a 10-1 lead.

Salem-Keizer pounded out 16 hits en route to their fifth straight win.

(EUGENE, Ore. ) - Emeralds baseball logoJohn Hussey and two relievers combined on a four-hitter as Eugene cruised past visiting Tri-City, 10-3, on Wednesday.

Hussey (3-1) allowed one run on two hits and four walks with a strikeout in five innings.

Corey Kluber gave up two runs on two hits in two innings before Jeremy Hefner fanned three over two hitless frames.

Dust Devils Hold Off Ems, 3-2

Dust Devils starter Cory Riordan yielded two runs on three hits in five innings.

(EUGENE, Ore. ) - Emeralds baseball logoJohnny Bowden and Derek Kinzler plated runs with groundouts in the seventh inning as visiting Tri-City held on for a 3-2 victory over Eugene on Tuesday.

Joshua Banda led off the seventh with a single and Brian Lapin doubled him to third.

Bowden's grounder to short scored Banda with the tying run and Kinzler's bouncer to second base enabled Kinzler to come home and gave Tri-City (12-23) the lead.

(KEIZER, Ore. ) - Volcanoes baseball logoChad Rothford and Garret Baker drove in two runs apiece as Salem-Keizer toppled visiting Yakima, 9-4, on Tuesday.

Rothford crushed a two-run homer, his sixth, in the first inning and Baker slapped a two-RBI single in the second.

Brock Bond and Jeremiah Luster each had three hits and scored twice for the Volcanoes (29-6), who've won four in a row.

Vick was informed Monday that he shouldn't check in to the Falcons' training camp until a review of the case is completed by the league.

Astros legend to retire on own terms after 20 years in game.

(HOUSTON, Texas ) - Craig Biggio photoIn a press conference held Tuesday afternoon at Minute Maid Park, longtime Houston Astro Craig Biggio announced his retirement, effective at the end of the 2007 season.

The 2007 season is Biggio's franchise-record 20th with the club, as he made his Major League debut on June 26, 1988.

In 2,798 career games, all with the Astros, Biggio has hit .282 (3,014 x 10,699) with 286 home runs and 1,156 runs batted in.
