NWC Softball: Bruins Lose to Lutes Under Linfield Lights Twice

George Fox (6-28, NWC 4-22) concludes its season Sunday, hosting the University of Puget Sound in a conference twinbill at noon.

In the first game, George Fox took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the 2nd when Ashley Olson doubled off the fence in left, was sacrificed to third, and scored on an error at short.

CCC Baseball: Oregon Tech Nips Corban, 6-5

Corban's record dropped to 4-17 in Region 1 action, 10-27-1 overall.

(KLAMATH FALLS, Ore.) - corban sports photoSenior Ryan Heil turned in a 3-for-5 performance at the plate with a RBI, but Corban's baseball team dropped the opening game of its three-game series, 6-5, to the Hustlin' Owls of Oregon Tech on Friday at Leo J. Bocchi Field.

OIT took initial control of the game by scoring four runs on six hits in the first two innings, but the Warrior's starting pitcher, sophomore Jason Braun, buckled down and pitched three consecutive shutout innings.

In the night cap, SOU's Melissa Wilt held Corban to a mere single.

(SALEM) - corban sports photoFreshman Jessica Pierce hit the game-winning home run and sophomore Erin Sailors turned in a 2-hit, 9-strikeout performance in Game #1, as Corban softball team split a conference afternoon double header with the Raiders of Southern Oregon, 3-2 & 0-17, on Friday.

In the opener, Sailors got the game's opening batter out via a line out before walking the second batter.

WCC Baseball: Pilots Take Opener from Dons, 5-3

Portland gets a complete-game win from David Gruener and three RBI’s from James Allan.

(PORTLAND) - james allan photoPortland senior James Allan knocked in three runs and junior David Gruener went the distance as the Pilots topped the San Francisco Dons 5-3 in a West Coast Conference baseball game Friday afternoon at Joe Etzel Field.

It’s the third complete-game this season for Gruener.

Portland picks up its second straight win to improve to 16-20 on the season and 3-7 in the WCC.

NBA: Kemp, Sessions to Explore NBA Draft Options

By not hiring agents, they have the option to withdraw from the draft and return for their senior seasons at the University of Nevada.

Both Kemp and Sessions have filed early-entry paperwork with the NBA, while the deadline for underclassmen to withdraw from draft consideration is Monday, June 18th.

Kristin Murray led the Beavers to a four game sweep of the Pilots, 30-22, 30-19, 30-23, 15-11.

A pair of kills by Murray, who will be the Beavers’ lone senior in 2007, put OSU ahead to stay.
