(CORVALLIS, Ore. ) - Oregon State wrestlers Tim Patrick and Brice Arand won national titles at the FILA Junior Nationals earlier this month while representing the Orange Crush Wrestling Club in Las Vegas, Nev.
Both won their titles in the Greco-Roman competition, Patrick at 74 kilograms (163 pounds) and Arand at 84 kilograms (185 pounds).
Patrick also placed fourth in the Freestyle 74-kilogram division. Read Full Article

(Fort Worth, TX) - Jeff Burton ended the streak at Texas Motor Speedway as he became the first repeat winner in NEXTEL Cup action at "The Great American Speedway!"
Burton, the inaugural winner at Texas Motor Speedway in 1997, closed in on the leaders in the final laps to score the victory in Sunday’s Samsung 500.
The victory solidified Burton’s standing in the NEXTEL Cup standings as he leaves the Samsung 500 second in points, only eight points behind leader Jeff Gordon.

(SALEM) - Liz Gilgan homered and pitcher Nikki Franchi held visiting Pacific Lutheran University to no runs and five hits, as Willamette University took the first game of a Northwest Conference doubleheader, 2-0, on Sunday at the WU Softball Field.
PLU scored three unearned runs in game two to claim a 3-0 win. Willamette is now 16-11 overall and 10-8 in the NWC, while PLU is 12-13 overall, 6-12 in the NWC.
Gilgan proved to be the difference offensively in game one for Willamette.

Playing in their first Sunday game of the season, the Warriors fell victim to a hot-scoring Thunderbird offense that capped off a three-game sweep with today's victory.

Drew George’s two-run homer in the bottom of the second inning started the scoring for OSU (28-8 overall, 4-5 Pacific-10), which won the weekend series from the Golden Bears (18-19, 3-6).

The full-count pitch to Longfellow was high and outside, allowing the Beavers to rally back from a 4-1 seventh inning deficit and improve to 33-13 overall and 5-3 in the Pacific-10 Conference.

After a tense game one victory where the hosts rallied twice to win, the Wolves captured their eighth straight game in easy fashion in the second contest, improving to 20-15 on the season and to 10-2 in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference.
Saint Martin’s falls to 12-24 on the year and to 4-8 in league play.
