Western Oregon - Willamette to Tangle at Volcanoes Stadium

The two schools have not met since the 2001 season.

(KEIZER) - wu baseball photoWestern Oregon and Willamette will play a non-conference baseball game on Tuesday, at Volcanoes Stadium in Keizer.

Start time for the contest is 6:00 PM.

Ticket prices are $4 for adults and $4 for students with student I-D. Children under 12 years of age are free. Parking in the Volcanoes lot will also be free of charge.

Oregon State Fans: Come See “The Other Side” of Beaver Athletics

“The Other Side” got its start in 2003 and each year proceeds have gone to a worthy charity.

(CORVALLIS) - osu event photoBeaver fans will have the opportunity next week to come watch Oregon State student-athletes perform in a totally different venue than their typical places of competition, as the fifth annual “The Other Side” talent show is set for Wednesday.

The event will be held at the LaSells Stewart Center. A silent auction will begin at 6:30 PM, with the talent show starting at approximately 7:00 PM.

This year will benefit the Bluffton (Ohio) University Memorial Fund, in memory of the school’s baseball players that died in a tragic bus accident in March.

GNAC Baseball: Western Oregon Completes Sweep of Four-Game Series

Cusick, Ward combine on two-hitter in finale, WOU takes over sole possession of first place.

(ELLENSBURG, Wash.) - wolves logoDan Straily and Ben Shivers combined to hold Central Washington to four hits in pitching Western Oregon to a 5-1 win over the Wildcats Sunday in the first game of a Great Northwest Athletic Conference baseball doubleheader at Ellensburg.

The Wolves also won the second game 12-2 to complete a sweep of the four-game series.

The wins also moved Western Oregon (15-15, 6-2) one game ahead of idle Northwest Nazarene (5-3) in the GNAC baseball race. CWU (15-13, 1-7) dropped five games back.

PCL: Grizzlies Rally Late for 5-4 Win Over Beavers

The Beavers make their 2007 home debut against Fresno at PGE Park on Friday.

(FRESNO, Calif.) - portland beavers logoFormer Beaver Justin Leone tied the game with a solo home run in the seventh inning, and reigning Pacific Coast League MVP Scott McClain drove in the go-ahead run with a two-out single in the eighth as the Fresno Grizzlies defeated the Portland Beavers 5-4 Sunday afternoon at Chukchansi Park.

The Beavers (1-3) took a 4-3 lead in the sixth inning after overcoming an early three-run deficit, but Leone’s solo home run off reliever Aaron Rakers (ROCK-erz) tied it.

An inning later, Tomas De La Rosa reached on a one-out single against Scott Strickland, later stole third base and scored when McClain dropped a pinch-hit single into right field.

Champ Car: Power Becomes First Aussie to Win Champ Car Race

Defending champion, Sebastien Bourdais, crashed out on lap 30 of the 68-lap race.

(LAS VEGAS) - champ car photoTeam Australia's Will Power has become the first Australian to win a round of the Champ Car World Series after clinching the Las Vegas Grand Prix in Nevada this morning.

Power, who started from pole, dominated the race in his Aussie Vineyards-backed machine to clinch the win from Dutch rookie Robert Doombas and Champ Car veteran Paul Tracy.

Other former Australian podium winners have included Geoff Brabham and former F1 world champion Alan Jones.

Pac-10 Baseball: 11th Inning Homer Lifts No. 8 Oregon State over USC

Eddie Kunz improved his record to 2-0 as he pitched a career-high 5 1/3 innings.

(CORVALLIS) - osu player photoJordan Lennerton’s home run in the bottom of the 11th inning lifted eighth-ranked Oregon State to a 9-8 win over Southern California in Pac-10 baseball Saturday afternoon at Goss Stadium at Coleman Field.

Mike Lissman’s two-run homer in the bottom of the eighth inning tied the game, and Eddie Kunz pitched the final 5 1/3 innings to earn the win for OSU (25-7 overall, 2-4 Pac-10).

Pac-10 Softball: 10th-Ranked Oregon Evens Civil War with 4-3 Victory

Oregon’s win also breaks the Beavers’ winning streak over the Ducks, which had grown to the last eight meetings.

(EUGENE) - ducks player photoFor the second straight game, 17th-ranked Oregon State erased 10th-ranked Oregon’s early lead, but on Saturday the Ducks prevailed and evened the Civil War series with a 4-3 victory in eight innings at Howe Field.

Oregon improves to 37-5 and 3-2 in the Pacific-10 Conference, while Oregon State drops to 29-12 and 3-2 in the Pac-10.

Sophomore Sari-Jane Jenkins provided the game-winning RBI single in the eighth with a hard-hit line drive that scored junior Amie Morris.

(LAS VEGAS) - paul tracy photoTeam Australia's Will Power has taken pole for Sunday's opening race of the Champ Car World Series in downtown Las Vegas, Nevada.

Born and bred in Toowoomba Queensland, Power beat his nearest rival Saturday by an amazing 0.886 of a second and will start from pole alongside series veteran Paul Tracy, who claimed his front row spot after being quickest in yesterday's opening qualifying.

The effort came after a mishap in qualifying yesterday which cost Power valuable track time and saw him finish the day seventh.

GNAC Baseball: Western Oregon Takes Two From Central Washington

The two teams will play again on Sunday, start time is noon.

(ELLENSBURG, Wash.) - wou logoWestern Oregon used a nine-run inning in the first game and then rode home run power and the pitching of Mike Eisenhauer to claim the nightcap during a pair of baseball wins over Central Washington on Saturday at Tomlinson Field, 13-5 and 7-0.

With the victories, Western Oregon improved to 13-15 on the season and to 4-2 in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference.

Central Washington is now 15-11 overall and 1-5 in conference play.
