(SALEM) - Willamette University freshman wing/post Dan Nugent has been selected Honorable Mention All-Northwest Conference for the 2006-07 season in voting by the NWC head coaches.
Nugent led Willamette with 15.2 points per game and ranked second in the NWC with 1.6 blocked shots per game.
He scored in double figures in 17 games, including eight games with 20 or more points. Read Full Article

(SALEM) - Willamette University women’s basketball player Keilyn Fujioka capped a stellar freshman campaign by being named Honorable Mention All-Northwest Conference as selected by the NWC head coaches.
Fujioka was the only Bearcat player to earn All-Conference honors.
Fujioka played in 23 of the Bearcats’ 25 games (20 starts) and led the team in scoring, rebounding, and blocked shots.

(LA GRANDE) - All-Cascade Collegiate Conference senior Jessi Norton hit the game-winning shot with 1.7 seconds left, as Corban's women's basketball team captured its third conference tournament championship via a 59-58 win over Eastern Oregon on Monday to extend its winning streak to a school-record tying 11 straight victories.
Heading into the game, both Corban and Eastern Oregon were riding double-digit win streaks with the host Mountaineers having won 13 straight contests and Corban was undefeated in 10 games.

(WALNUT CREEK, Calif. ) - Oregon guard Tajuan Porter has been named the U.S. Bank Pacific-10 Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for Feb. 19th-25th.
Porter, a freshman from Detroit, Mich., averaged 20 points and 2 steals last week as the Ducks swept the Washington schools at home.
In the Ducks’ 64-59 come-from-behind upset over No. 9 Washington State, Porter scored 11 straight points in a two minute span late in the second half to give Oregon the lead.

(PORTLAND) - Ex Mountain Cop, the 2-year-old sensation of Oregon racing, was named the Oregon Horse of the Year and Top 2-Year-old Colt/Gelding Saturday evening by the Oregon Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders Association.
Owned and bred by Maynard Davis and Charles Richard Novak and trained by Jonathan Nance, Ex Mountain Cop made history on December 10th, 2006 by earning more money in one race than any other horse in the 60 year history of pari-mutuel wagering in the state of Oregon.
Lethal Grande was named Oregon Champion Older male for the third time.
He garnered his award in 2003 and 2004 as well.

Salem-News.com Sports (February 26, 2007 07:50)Western Oregon`s Marin Sets School Record Salem-News.com SPORTS(SEATTLE) - Western Oregon sophomore Anthony Marin broke a 12-year old school record and improved his national provisional mark by two feet with a 61-9 heave in the weight throw on Saturday at the SPU Last Chance meet, held at the University of Washington's Dempsey Indoor Arena.
Marin, who won the Great Northwest Athletic Conference title last week in the same event, moved to the top of WOU's all-time list by passing the 1995 mark of Randy Parshall, who threw 60-2.
The McKay High School alum also bettered his chances to qualify for the NCAA Division II National Championships, to be held March 9th-10th in Boston.

(SACRAMENTO) - The No. 15 Oregon State University baseball team pounded out a season-high for runs and hits as it routed the Sacramento State Hornets 18-5 Sunday in the final game of the River City Classic.
The win pushed the Beavers record to 11-2 for the season while the Hornets dropped to 2-10.
The game was scoreless until the fourth inning when OSU posted a season-high eight run frame.

(BAKERSFIELD, Calif. ) - The Oregon State University wrestling team captured the Pac-10 Championship for the first time since 1994, edging the host Cal State-Bakersfield Roadrunners at the Icardo Center Sunday.
The Beavers finished the tournament with a team score of 110 points, while the Roadrunners had 105 and UC Davis 96.5.
The top three placers at each weight plus nine “wildcards” advance to the March 17th-19th NCAA Championships in Detroit.

(FONTANA, Calif.) - Roush Fenway Racing continued their mastery of California Speedway at Sunday's Auto Club 500 NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series race.
Matt Kenseth led 129 laps, including the final 23, to earn a trip to Gatorade Victory Lane.
The win marks the second Cup victory for Kenseth at California, as he was victorious at last year's Auto Club 500.
