NLL: LumberJax Still Seeking First Divisional Win

(PORTLAND) - Portland Lumberjax logoThe Portland LumberJax (2-4) wrapped up a week of well-deserved rest and will now take on Western Division rival Colorado Mammoth (6-1) at the Rose Garden this Thursday at 7:00 PM.

This is the second meeting between the teams this season, the first of which took place on Jan. 25th in the Pepsi Center Arena in Denver, Colo.

No. 18 Oregon State Finishes Regular Season With Dual Meet Sweep

(CORVALLIS) - Oregon Beavers logoOn “Senior Day” at Gill Coliseum, the No. 18 Oregon State University wrestling team concluded its regular season with a 31-13 victory over fellow Pac-10 member Stanford (6-7, 4-3 in Pac-10) and followed with a 29-11 win over North Dakota State (8-4).

The Beavers, who have won 30 of 32 duals vs. Stanford, finish the 2007 regular season with a 17-2 overall record (7-1 in Pac-10) and with their most wins in a year since 1986.

OSU Swimmers Ready For Pac-10 Championships

(CORVALLIS) - The Oregon State swim team -- having finished at the .500 mark for the first time in two seasons -- will try to build on its season long success heading into the postseason at the Pac-10 Championships in Long Beach, California starting Wednesday.

The Beavers (8-8, 1-6 Pac-10) have never finished higher than seventh at the Pac-10 Championships.

Oregon State Dominates Oregon Sports Awards

(BEAVERTON) - It was unofficially Oregon State University night at the 55th annual Oregon Sports Awards Banquet Sunday at the Tiger Woods Center at the Nike World Campus.

Baseball head coach Pat Casey was honored with the Slats Gill Sportsperson of the Year honor.

Pitcher Brianne McGowan captured the Bill Hayward Female Athlete of the Year Award.

Ducks Down Texas Tech, Improve to 4-1

(TEMPE, Ariz. ) - The University of Oregon softball team completed play at the 2007 Kajikawa Classic by defeating Texas Tech 4-2 on Sunday morning at Farrington Stadium on the campus of Arizona State.

Freshman shortstop Jennifer Salling homered and drove in two, and junior right-hander Alicia Cook posted at complete game, allowing six hits and two runs, none earned. Cook struck out six and walked one.

Dieskova, Ducks Rebound in Colorado

(BOULDER, Colo. ) - Dominika Dieskova returned to her winning ways and the Ducks followed suit, sweeping the weekend series with the No. 45 Denver Pioneers and the No. 51 Colorado Buffaloes.

Dieskova was one of five Ducks to record a singles victory in a 5-2 win Sunday against Colorado. She defeated the Buffaloes' Monica Milewski in three sets, 6-2, 3-6, 6-2.

Sweep for Willamette at Oregon Sports Awards

(BEAVERTON) - Wilamette Bearcats logoFormer Willamette University track and field and cross country athlete Nick Symmonds and current Bearcat cross country and distance runner Sarah Zerzan were chosen as the 2006 Ad Rutschman Small College Athletes of the Year at the 55th Annual Oregon Sports Awards show on Sunday at the Tiger Woods Center on the Nike Campus in Beaverton.

Symmonds won the Small College Male Athlete of the Year Award and Zerzan received the Small College Female Athlete of the Year Award.

NASCAR: Daytona 500 Front Row Belongs to Robert Yates Racing

(DAYTONA BEACH, Fla.) - Robert Yates Racing's David Gilliland and Ricky Rudd swept the front row for the Daytona 500 in Budweiser Pole Qualifying on Sunday at historic Daytona International Speedway.

Gilliland, driver of the No. 38 M&M's Ford, claimed the pole for "The Great American Race" next Sunday by turning a fast lap time of 48.304 seconds, 186.320 mph.

He will make his first career Daytona 500 start alongside his teammate Ricky Rudd, driver of the No. 88 Snickers Ford, who posted a speed of 48.489, 185.487.

Bearcats Lead Lewis & Clark, 5-3; Game Suspended Due to Weather

(TIGARD) - The Willamette University baseball team scored four runs in the top of the first inning and held a 5-2 lead over Lewis & Clark College after an inning and a half on Sunday at Tigard High School, but the Bearcats will have to wait more than two months before they can close out the game, as weather forced the contest to be suspended in the middle of the seventh inning.

Willamette was leading 5-3 when the game was suspended.
