Oregon State to Play Washington at Safeco Field

(CORVALLIS) - Defending national champion Oregon State will step onto a major league stage when the Beavers play the first game of their Pac-10 baseball series against Washington at Safeco Field on May 4th.

The game in the home ballpark of the Seattle Mariners will begin at 7:30 PM and will be televised live on FSN, it was announced Tuesday.

McCready and Ducks Picked as Golfweek National Women's Player & Team of Week

(EUGENE) - The No. 45-ranked University of Oregon women’s team and senior Kim McCready were honored Tuesday as the Golfweek Magazine National Team and Player of the Week after their respective wins in the Baja Classic, held at the Bajamar Resort in Ensenada, Mexico, Feb. 5th-6th.

The Ducks won by four strokes (298-311-609) over No. 44 Louisville (second, 305-308-613), while No. 38 Birmingham Southern (313-307-620) and No. 66 Colorado (298-322-620) tied for third place in the 15-team field.

OSU Women's Soccer Hires Assistant Coach

(CORVALLIS) - Oregon State University Beavers logoKellie Evans, a former standout at Auburn University, has been hired as an assistant coach for the Oregon State women’s soccer program, head coach Steve Fennah announced Tuesday.

Evans joins the OSU staff after serving as a volunteer assistant coach at Huntingdon College in Montgomery, Ala., in 2006.

In addition, Evans has been an assistant coach in Florida’s ODP program and at Durant High School in Plant City, Fla.

Western Oregon Baseball Hosts Concordia Sunday

(MONMOUTH) - Western Oregon University Wolves logoThe Western Oregon baseball team played half of their scheduled 10-game road trip last week, getting washed out in the Bay area of games against Sonoma State and San Francisco State.

Weather permitting, the Wolves will play at home for the first time this season on Sunday, hosting Concordia in a doubleheader. Start time is noon.

Oregon's Van den Berg Named MPSF Player of the Week

(WOODLAND, Calif. ) - Oregon sophomore Ilsa van den Berg has been awarded the first Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Player of the Week Award for 2007, commissioner Al Beaird announced Tuesday.

The Reisterstown, Md. native scored a hat trick in the Ducks 10-6 upset of two-time defending MPSF champion Stanford, which marked the first win for the Ducks over the MPSF powerhouse and the first season opening win for the third-year program.

No. 15 Oregon Hopes to Break Bay Area Blues

(EUGENE) - With the 11th 20-win season now in the bank, No. 15 Oregon looks to break out of their Bay Area blues on its last road trip of the regular season.

Oregon plays at Cal on Thursday at 7:30 PM in a rare non-televised game, and then faces Stanford on Saturday at 5:00 PM in an Oregon Sports Network game.

NFL News: Chargers Sack Schottenheimer

(SAN DIEGO) - Marty SchottenheimerArguably one of the NFL’s most talented teams is now looking for a head coach.

Marty Schottenheimer was fired by the Chargers Monday, citing his "dysfunctional" relationship with A.J. Smith, the team's general manager.

His firing came less than a month after his team fell apart in a divisional playoff loss to New England that ruined San Diego's NFL-best 14-2 season.
