No. 17 Oregon State Faces Stiff Tests Against U.C. Davis, Cal-Poly

OSU is coming off a weekend that saw the Beavers beat Arizona State 31-10 and Boise State 32-6 at Gill Coliseum.

(CORVALLIS) - Oregon State continues a two-week battle with contenders for the Pacific-10 wrestling championship this weekend.

The 17th-ranked Beavers (13-1 overall, 5-0 Pac-10) wrestle dual meets at California-Davis (4-5 overall, 3-0 Pac-10) on Friday at 7:00 PM and at Cal Poly (4-6 overall, 4-1 Pac-10) on Sunday at 2:00 PM.

The dual at UCD is a “Brother vs. Brother” matchup of Beaver head coach Jim Zalesky and Aggie head coach Lenny Zalesky.

MLB News: Yankees Awarded 2008 All-Star Game

The 2007 All-Star Game will be played on July 10th at AT&T Park in San Francisco.

(NEW YORK) - Salem-News.com SportsThe New York Yankees have been awarded the 2008 Major League Baseball All-Star Game and will host the Midsummer Classic at Yankee Stadium on Tuesday, July 15th, 2008, during the final year that the ballpark will be open, Baseball Commissioner Allan H. (Bud) Selig announced at a press conference Wednesday.

Commissioner Selig was joined by the Mayor of New York, Michael R. Bloomberg, and Steve Swindal, General Partner of the New York Yankees.

The 2008 All-Star Game -- the 79th Midsummer Classic -- will be the fourth held in "The House That Ruth Built" and the eighth time that New York City has welcomed the event.

Oregon Wrestlers Head South For Dual Meet Friday

Stanford has the top 125 pounder in the Pac-10.

(EUGENE) - The Oregon Ducks (6-9, 1-5) head down to the Bay Area to take on UC Davis and Stanford.

Oregon will face the Aggies at 11:00 AM and the Cardinal at 5:00 PM on Friday.

Last year, the Ducks split the series of matches in the dual meet held in Davis, as each team won five matches.

Oregon Women's Tennis Faces Michigan, Sacramento State

The Ducks are coming off of a six hour marathon against Alabama last weekend.

(EUGENE) - The No. 39 ranked Oregon Ducks (4-0, 0-0) face their toughest opponents of the year thus far as they welcome No. 22 Michigan and No. 63 Sacramento State to the Student Tennis Center.

The Ducks will face the Wolverines on Saturday at 10:00 AM and the Hornets on Sunday at noon.

The No. 22 Wolverines are coming off a season opening upset of No. 17 Vanderbilt.

IRL News: Buddy Rice, Sarah Fisher Join DRR For 2007

At just 18, Fisher was racing Ryan Newman, Jason Leffler, and Kasey Kahne in the USAC midgets winning five of the 23 main events.

(INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.) - Dreyer & Reinbold Racing has announced that they will expand to a two car team featuring 2004 Indianapolis 500 winner Buddy Rice and four-time “Most Popular Driver” Sarah Fisher.

Rice, the popular American driver, will celebrate his sixth year in the IndyCar Series when the green flag drops at Homestead-Miami Speedway on March 24th.

Fisher will wheel the second entry for the team in 2007 alongside Rice in the No. 5 Honda powered Dallara.

The Open Test at Daytona International Speedway marks the first time all IndyCar Series competitors will run on the 3.5-liter Honda Indy V-8 engine fueled by 100 percent fuel-grade ethanol

(DAYTONA BEACH, Fla.) - The IndyCar Series kicked off a two-day spring training test session at historic Daytona International Speedway on Wednesday.

The roar of 17 IndyCar Series teams can be heard throughout a 2.73-mile road course at the "The World Center of Racing."

The teams are using the two-day test at DIS to prep for the five road/street course events on the 2007 IndyCar Series schedule.

Eastern Oregon Women Rout WWC, 73-18

Normal starters Christie Weaver, Whitney Leman and Tiffanie Ulmer got the night off in preparation for this weekends conference games.

(WALLA WALLA, Wash.) - Salem-News.com SportsWith the usual starters playing little to no minutes, EOU started the game on a 20-0 run and never looked back.

The Mounties defeated Walla Walla 73-18 for a non conference win, bringing their record to 18-5.

Reserve wing Laura Olson got the start tonight and made the most of her opportunity, scoring 19 points and pulling down 4 rebounds in 35 minutes of action.

Eastern Oregon Tops Walla Walla College, 97-62

Eastern will play two pivotal conference games this weekend when they face off against Cascade College (5-18) and the 4th ranked Warner Pacific Knights (20-3).

(WALA WALA, Wash.) - Salem-News.com SportsThe Eastern Oregon University Mountaineers (18-5) traveled to Walla Walla Tuesday night for a non conference match up with Walla Walla College and picked up its 18th win of the season.

EOU managed to spread minutes around to 12 different players, six of which scored in double figures as EOU dominated WWC 97-62.

Senior Vernon Cropper came of the bench to lead the charge with 17 points and 5 rebounds in just 21 minutes of action.

Jax Swarm Back Into Action

The three Rose City favorites were acquired by the Philadelphia Wings in the Anaheim Storm Dispersal Draft before being traded to Minnesota and finally to the Jax.

(PORTLAND) - The Portland LumberJax (2-3) are back in the Rose Garden Friday when they face-off against the Minnesota Swarm (1-3) at 7:00 PM.

The Jax and Swarm split last season’s series with one win apiece and are looking to rebound after consecutive losses.

Last season the LumberJax acquired forward/transition player Ryder Bateman through a mid-season trade with the Minnesota Swarm.
