(PORTLAND) - The Portland Winter Hawks played tentative and tight for two periods, but ignited a charge in the third period that fell short as the Chilliwack Bruins held on for a 2-1 win in front of 9,142 Saturday on “Mascot Hockey Night’ in Memorial Coliseum.
Mark Santorelli and Oscar Moller (MAWL-er) scored for Chilliwack and Thomas Frazee was credited with Portland’s lone goal in the second period.
Chilliwack goalie Matt Esposito stopped all 13 shots he faced in an action-packed third period. Read Full Article

(PORTLAND) - Sophomore guard Brandon Johnson scored a game-high 24 points to lead the San Diego Toreros to a 74-70 win over the Portland Pilots Saturday afternoon in front of 1,358 at the Chiles Center.
Sophomore forward Jamie Jones led four Pilots in double figures with 15 points and seven rebounds.
The teams entered the contest tied for fifth-place in the West Coast Conference standings.

(EUGENE) - After beating Corban College twice earlier in the season, Northwest Christian couldn’t complete the season sweep on Saturday night, falling 72-59.
The Warriors won behind 22 points from sophomore Wade Douglas, who shot 8-for-11 on the night.
The Beacons trailed buzzer-to-buzzer and were down early, 15-4 with 15:07 to play in the first half when Nate Morris hit a three-pointer.

(NEWBERG) - Regaining a share of first place in the Northwest Conference women’s basketball race, the George Fox University Bruins knocked off the University of Puget Sound Loggers 64-62 to complete a regular season sweep of the nationally-ranked Loggers Saturday night at the Wheeler Sports Center’s Miller Gym.
George Fox improved to 12-5 overall and 8-2 in the conference, while Puget Sound, ranked 20th in the WBCA poll and 22nd in the D3hoops.com poll, slipped to 15-4 overall and 8-2 in the league as their eight-game winning streak ended.
The Bruins had defeated the Loggers 58-50 in Tacoma on Dec. 2nd, so the Bruins will have any tiebreaker between the two if one is necessary. Read Full Article

(EUGENE) - Senior Tosha Wilson led the Warriors with a season-high 21 points to go along with 10 rebounds and 7 assists, as Corban's women's basketball team extended its winning streak to six games over Northwest Christian thanks to a 79-70 victory on Saturday.
For the third straight season, Corban has swept the season series with Northwest Christian, including a pair of come-from-behind victories at the Morse Event Center in Eugene.
The Beacons' Emily Gray scored seven of her team's first 15 points, as Northwest Christian grabbed its largest lead of the game with 14:20 on the clock.

(EUGENE) - Shuffling their lineup due to an injury at 174 lbs., the Ducks fell to the Arizona State Sun Devils, 27-14, Sunday afternoon in a Pac-10 dual meet held at McArthur Court.
Due to Ronnie Lee's fractured leg, the Ducks were forced to switch around their lineup a bit as freshman Zach Frazier got the start at 157 lbs., Kyle Bounds moved up to 165 lbs. and Jake McCoy wrestled at 174 lbs.
Frazier, wrestling in his first Pac-10 dual match and against the No. 5 ranked 157 pounder in the nation, Brian Stith, battled hard but was ultimately overpowered by last years national runner-up.

OSU (4-0 overall) completed a four-game sweep of the Vulcans (0-4) to open the season.
The Beavers, the defending national champions, reeled off the four wins after OSU’s early workouts were limited to sessions in the Merritt Truax Indoor Center.
