Oregon’s Dieskova Advances to Round of 16 at ITA Regionals

In doubles action, the second-seeded pair of Dieskova and Olivos were upset in the quarterfinals by Stanford’s pair of Celia Durkin and Jessica Nguyen.

(BERKELEY, Calif.) - Dominika DieskovaDominika Dieskova is the only Duck still remaining in the main draw of the Northwest ITA Regionals, being held this weekend on the campus of the University of California.

While all of the Ducks that had first round byes yesterday won their second round matches, only Dieskova would remain after the round of 32. The fifth-seeded senior from Bratislava, Slovakia battled to a 6-2, 7-5 win over California’s Bojana Bobusic to advance.

Women’s Volleyball: Linfield Downs Pacific in Three

Linfield hosts Willamette Wednesday at 7:00 PM.

(FOREST GROVE) - Linfield's Lauren KreigerPacific proved that it could compete with one of the top teams in the nation Saturday, but 15th-ranked Linfield received a few more breaks to take a three-game match from the Boxers, 30-27, 30-16, 30-27, in Northwest Conference volleyball action at the Pacific Athletic Center.

The Boxers (7-15, 4-8 NWC) hit better than the Wildcats (17-2, 10-2 NWC) in games one and three, but experienced a letdown in a game two in which the visiting team dominated.

Willamette Wins Men’s Team Title at OSU Beaver Classic

Beavers win women’s race. Corban finishes second. Bearcats finish fourth.

Beavers Beat Wildcats For Second Straight Pac-10 Win

Next Saturday, No. 3 USC comes to Corvallis. Kick-off is set for 12:30 PM.

(TUCSON, Ariz.) - OSU footballIt wasn’t a pretty win, but it’s a win, and one step closer to a bowl game for the Oregon State Beavers.

Matt Moore threw for 181 yards and a touchdown while running back Yvenson Bernard rushed for 107 yards as Oregon State beat the Arizona Wildcats, 17-10 at Arizona Stadium Saturday.

Moore also threw two interceptions. The Beavers (4-3 overall, 2-2 Pac-10) had 332 total yard of offense compared to 183 for the Wildcats (3-5 overall, 1-4 Pac-10).

Men’s Soccer: Bearcats Lose to 20th-Ranked Puget Sound, 3-0

The Loggers registered 24 shots during the game and allowed just three shots to Willamette.

(TACOMA, Wash.) - Soccer ball artThe Willamette University defense held the University of Puget Sound, ranked 20th in NCAA Division III, scoreless for almost the entire first half, but the Loggers scored two minutes before halftime and four minutes into the second half, on their way to a 3-0 victory over the Bearcats Saturday in Tacoma.

The Northwest Conference win upped Puget Sounds’ overall record to 10-1-2, while the Loggers also improved to 7-1-2 in the NWC. Willamette fell to 1-13-1 on the season, including 0-9-1 in the NWC.

Linfield Throws it’s Way Past PLU, 44-21

The Wildcats outgained PLU 221-82 in the opening two quarters, including a 191-31 edge through the air.

(PUYALLUP, Wash.) - Linfield footballScott Birkhofer booted five field goals and Tyler Kaluza scored three touchdowns as No. 16 Linfield soundly defeated Northwest Conference rival Pacific Lutheran 44-21 under sunny skies at Sparks Stadium.

The six-time defending NWC champion Wildcats improved to 3-0 in the conference and 4-2 overall with their fourth consecutive victory. PLU dropped to 2-5, 1-3 in conference play.

Wildcats quarterback Trevor Scharer completed 17 of 34 passes, six of which went to Kaluza, who finished with 97 yards receiving. Drew Ragan started in the backfield for the ‘Cats and rushed for a game-high 64 yards on eight carries.

Women’s Soccer: Puget Sound Gets Revenge, Edges Bearcats, 2-1

On Sept. 24th, Willamette defeated Puget Sound, 3-0 at Sparks Field, when the Loggers were ranked #3 in the nation.

(TACOMA, Wash.) - Willamette Bearcats logoThe University of Puget Sound became the first team to score more than one goal against Willamette University this season, as the Loggers scored once in the first half, then added a goal at 81:20, sending UPS to a 2-1 victory over the Bearcats in a Northwest Conference game on Saturday.

The game was played between two Top 25 teams in NCAA Division III, as UPS (#22) improved to 11-1-3 overall, 9-1-2 in the NWC. Willamette (#15) fell to 12-2-2 on the season, 9-2-1 in the NWC.

UPS moved into first place in the NWC with the win.

Women’s Soccer: Oregon Tech Ends Warriors Season

The season ends in shoot-out loss at home.

(SALEM) - Shakira JenkinsFor the second straight season, Corban's women's soccer team fell in the opening round of the Cascade Collegiate Conference tournament via a shoot-out loss. This time is was by Oregon Tech, 3-0, despite a game-tying goal by senior Charissa Bernard on Saturday.

After a scoreless first half that saw the host Warriors control the offensive flow, Oregon Tech's Brandy Bocchi put the first goal on the board in the 53rd minute off an assist from Sharlie McAdams. McAdams began the play by sending a through ball onto the awaiting foot of Bocchi, who flicked a shot up and over Corban's goalkeeper for her conference-leading 15th goal of the season.

Wolves Explode For 53-7 Win Over Southern Oregon

McKay graduate Ben Kuenzi came off the bench for the Wolves and rushed for a career-best 93 yards on 11 carries, all in the second half.

(MONMOUTH) - Western Oregon broke open a 7-0 game with 26 second-quarter points and went on to an easy 53-7 win over Southern Oregon in front of 3,500 Homecoming fans at McArthur Field.

The Wolves improved to 5-2 on the season, while the Raiders dropped to 2-5. It was the second victory of the year for WOU over rival SOU, as the Wolves also won a 38-0 Little Civil War contest between the two on Sept. 23rd in Ashland.

Junior quarterback Mark Thorson threw four touchdown passes and the WOU defense held the Raiders to just 36 yards rushing on the day.
