(SALEM) - FootballIt’s week three for high school football in Oregon. Non-conference play continues this week.

West Salem hopes to remain undefeated in non-conference play. The Titians travel Friday to Roseburg for a game with the Indians who are also (1-0).

South Salem, North Salem, and McNary are looking to get back on track this week.

No. 5 Falcons Survive Wolves, 2-1

The Wolves will wrap a three-match home stand with another GNAC encounter Sunday, hosting Western Washington at 1:00 PM.

(MONMOUTH) - WO soccerNo. 5 nationally ranked Seattle Pacific survived an early scare, rallying in the second half for a 2-1 victory over Western Oregon in a women’s soccer match on a breezy Wednesday afternoon at the WOU Soccer Field.

The contest was the Great Northwest Athletic Conference opener for both schools.

Beavers, Pilots Ready For Friday Night Showdown

OSU Weekly Women’s Soccer Digest.

(CORVALLIS) - OSU soccer playerLOOKING AHEAD — The Oregon State women’s soccer team, riding one of the hottest offensive streaks in school history as well as having posted four consecutive wins, has its toughest non-conference test of the season as the defending NCAA champion, Portland, visits Corvallis on Friday.

Oregon State is (4-1-1) while Portland is (3-2-1). Game begins at 7:00 PM.

RANKINGS — Portland is ranked #6 nationally by Soccer Buzz and #8 by the NSCAA, Soccer America and Soccer Times ... In the Soccer Buzz West Region poll, the Pilots are #3 and the Beavers are tied for #15.

Ducks Down Pilots, Now 8-0

The Ducks conclude the non-conference portion of their season at the Boise State Tournament this weekend. Oregon faces Gonzaga on Friday (7:00 PM) and the host Broncos on Saturday (5:00 PM).

(PORTLAND) - Ducks logoThe University of Oregon volleyball team has its longest winning streak in 15 years after grinding out a 3-1 win over the University of Portland on Tuesday at Chiles Center.

The Ducks (8-0) won by scores of 30-18, 32-30, 19-30 and 30-22.

“We want every attack to end up on the floor and when it doesn’t we tend to stop playing,” said second-year head coach Jim Moore. “As we head into Pac-10 play we need that trend to change in a hurry.”

Horn Named CCC And Region I Libero of the Week

(SALEM) - Corban's Becky HornCorban College Senior Becky Horn was named Cascade Collegiate Conference and NAIA Region I Women’s Volleyball Libero of the Week for the week ending on September 9th, as announced Tuesday by the conference and regional Sports Information office.

Horn anchored Corban's back line in three matches last week with a team-high of 99 combined digs, including a match-high 30 in a 3-game sweep over NCAA Division III member Willamette.

Men's Soccer- Warriors Down Willamette, 4-2

The Warriors will be next in action on Thursday, when they take part in the first-ever "Soccer Under the Lights" versus Cascade College beginning at 7:30 PM on Warrior Field.

() - Corban junior midfielder Caleb LouvierIn the inaugural Capitol Cup between cross-town rivals Corban and Willamette, junior midfielder Caleb Louvier notched the first hat trick of the season in helping lead the Warriors to a 4-2 victory over the Bearcats at Sparks Filed on Tuesday.

With the victory, the Warriors bring home the first-ever Capitol Cup trophy for display in the C.E. Jeffers Sports Center.

Bruins Begin Building Back toward National Prominence Under New Coaches.

(NEWBERG) - GFox_91206In the decade of the 1990’s and as members of the NAIA, the George Fox University men’s and women’s cross country teams developed a reputation as one of the best programs in the country.

New head coach John Smith and associate head coach Mike Hickey have made a goal of returning the Bruins to a place of renown as one of the top teams in the nation.

Smith, a former All-American decathlete at George Fox and an assistant coach at his alma mater for the last eight years, was named in the spring to replace outgoing coach Wes Cook, who retired after 19 years at the school.

Beacons Snap Three-Game Skid

(EUGENE) - NW CHristian logoAfter dropping three matches last week to future Cascade Conference opponents, Northwest Christian College got one back, defeating Cascade College 30-28, 30-25, 28-30, 30-28.

The Beacons (2-3) used a balanced attack and a solid defense to ward off the Thunderbirds, keeping them winless on the season (0-9)

Brooke Stribling (Marist HS) once again led the way for the Beacons with a match-high 19 kills. She hit .326 for the evening.
