Brooks' 30 Point Effort Leads Oregon Past Washington, 93-85

Ryan Appleby scored 21 to lead the Huskies.

(EUGENE) - Aaron Brooks scored 30 points and Tajuan Porter had 19 to lead No. 23 Oregon to a 93-85 victory over Washington on Saturday night.

Bryce Taylor added 15 points for the Ducks (22-7, 10-7 Pac-10), who were coming off a 64-59 win over ninth-ranked Washington State on Thursday that ended a three-game losing streak.

Maarty Leunen had 13 points and Joevan Catron added 11 points off the bench.

Beavers put Five in Finals; Lead Pac-10 Wrestling Meet

Five Beavers have assured themselves a place at the NCAA Championships.

(BAKERSFIELD, Calif. ) - Five Oregon State wrestlers have advanced to the championship finals and the Beavers are the team leaders after Saturday’s first day of the Pacific-10 Championships at the Icardo Center.

Going after individual conference titles for OSU on Sunday evening will be 125-pounder Eric Stevenson, 133-pounder Bobby Pfennigs, 149-pounder Derek Kipperberg, 174-pounder Jeremy Larson and heavyweight Ty Watterson.

OSU, ranked 16th nationally, finished the first day of the two-day meet with 92 points; California-Davis is in second place with 74.5 points

NASCAR Busch Series: Kenseth Continues California Dominance

Kenseth will attempt to defend his Auto Club 500 victory and complete the California weekend sweep Sunday from the 25th starting position.

(FONTANA, Calif. ) - Despite a late charge by Casey Mears, Matt Kenseth led the final 22 laps at California Speedway to win the Stater Bros. 300 on Saturday night and continue his, and Roush Fenway Racing's, dominance of the 2-mile speedway.

Kenseth scored the 12th victory for his team at California Speedway and fifth for him personally - four in NASCAR Busch Series competition and one in NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series action.

Kyle Busch, Carl Edwards and defending race winner Greg Biffle completed the top five.

Buzzer Beater Gives Western Oregon 93-91 OT Win

WOU's Jacob Mitchell finishes with 32 points.

(MONMOUTH) - Jacob Mitchell’s follow-up tip-in of a Ryan Schmidt miss at the buzzer gave Western Oregon a 93-91 overtime win over Western Washington on Saturday night at the Physical Education Building.

Mitchell’s bank off the left-hand side capped a wild game that allowed the Wolves to snap a three-game losing streak.

The senior center finished with 32 points and 11 rebounds as the Wolves improved to 9-16 on the season and to 4-10 in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference.

Home Run Lifts Oklahoma past Oregon State, 4-1

Natalie Johnson went 2-4 to lead OSU.

(CATHEDRAL CITY, Calif.) - Senior third baseman Sherina Galvan belted a third inning home run, but the No. 6 ranked Oregon State softball team let the lead slip away in the seventh as No. 9 ranked Oklahoma rallied for a 4-1 victory.

The Sooners (15-0) remained undefeated on the season, scoring four runs in the final inning to earn their sixth straight victory over the Beavers (7-4), dating back to the 1998 season.

Three of Oklahoma’s six wins in the streak have come in postseason competition.

Oregon`s Noble & Rupp Speed to MPSF Wins

Noble’s mark eclipsed the NCAA automatic standard (2:05.20) – a time that only six other runners had met in ’07 before this weekend.

(SEATTLE) - The University of Oregon track and field teams added two school records, two wins, and seven NCAA qualifying marks Saturday in Mountain Pacific Sports Federation second and final day action hosted by the University of Washington in the Dempsey Indoor Center.

In the women’s 800m, returning NCAA outdoor champion and sophomore Rebekah Noble moved to lead just before the bell lap on the 307-meter UW track and raced away from her competition to win by .72 seconds over California All-American Alysia Johnson (second, 2:05.63).

The Spokane, Wash., native Noble scored a 3.50-second season best and was just off her indoor personal best (2:04.72) that came on the same track in January 2006.

Ducks Drop Regular Season Finale to Huskies, 61-46

Eleanor Haring and Kaela Chapdelaine led the Ducks with 10 points apiece.

(SEATTLE) - Oregon’s women’s basketball team (16-12, 8-10 Pac-10) lost for just the third time in its last nine contests Saturday against Washington, 61-46, at the Bank of America Arena in Seattle.

The Huskies (18-11, 11-7) took advantage of 24 Duck turnovers, scoring 31 points off these Oregon miscues, en route to their third consecutive win.

The turnovers were enough to overcome a poor shooting night for Washington, who went 24-74 (32.4%) from the field.

No. 9 WSU Rallies to Defeat Oregon State, 58-54

Marcel Jones had 16 points for the Beavers.

(CORVALLIS) - Mac Hopson's jumper with 35.5 seconds to go put Washington State ahead for good and the No. 9 Cougars held off Oregon State, 58-54, on Saturday night at Gill Coliseum.

Washington State (23-5, 12-4 Pac-10), which trailed by as many as eight points in the second half, pulled ahead when Aron Baynes scored eight straight points to give the Cougars a 47-45 lead.

The Beavers stayed in the game, and tied it at 54 on Wesley Washington's layup with 1:02 left. The Cougars took back the lead on Hopson's jumper.

Saints Surprise Wolves, 14-7

Saint Martin’s pounds out win against GNAC favorite WOU.

(LEWISTON, Idaho) - Saint Martin’s Nate Baker hit two home runs and drove in six runs as the Saints beat Great Northwest Athletic Conference rival Western Oregon in a non-conference baseball game at the Guardian Plumbing LC-State Invitational on Saturday at Harris Field.

Baker hit a two-run shot in the sixth inning and added a three-run bomb during a five-run SMU eighth inning to seal the victory for the Saints.

Adam Siler added a double, a triple and a pair of RBI as Saint Martin’s improved to 3-11 on the season, while Western Oregon dropped to 4-5.
