Oregon State, ASU Both Seeking First Pac-10 Wins Saturday

Oregon State’s games can be heard live on the radio on the Beaver Sports Network (which includes 18 stations throughout the Northwest, including KEX 1190 in Portland and KEJO 1240 in Corvallis/Albany).

(TEMPE) - The Oregon State men’s basketball team (8-9, 0-4) is on the road seeking its first Pac-10 Conference win of the season.

The Beavers play at Arizona State on Saturday, another team seeking its first victory.

GAME #18 — Saturday at Wells Fargo Arena: Oregon State at Arizona State (6-10, 0-5) at 4:30 PM MT/3:30 PM PT.

Oregon State, Arizona Meet Saturday in Corvallis

Oregon State has a 1-2 record on the season when sophomore guard Mercedes Fox-Griffin plays fewer than 38 minutes in a game.

(CORVALLIS) - The University of Arizona heads into Saturday’s game against Oregon State with a 7-11 overall record and a 1-5 mark in the Pac-10.

Despite three players reaching double figures in scoring, the Wildcats dropped an 86-73 decision at University of Oregon on Thursday.

The Beavers are a perfect 2-0 against Arizona with LaVonda Wagner at the helm.

Oregon Toppled by Cal-State Fullerton, 28-10

Oregon freshman Brysen French also continued to impress, taking his match against No. 18 Ian Murphy down to the wire before falling 4-2.

(EUGENE) - Senior Chris Dearmon upset the No. 14 ranked Wade Sauer, but the Ducks could not pick up the team victory as they fell 28-10 to the Titans Friday night in a Pac-10 dual meet at McArthur Court.

Ryan Dunn and Kyle Bounds would be the only other Ducks to pick up victories.

Dunn started the night out well for the Ducks, picking up a major decision in a very high scoring battle for the redshirt sophomore at 125 lbs, 25-11.

Douglas Powers Warriors to First Win Since November

With its 9th straight and 20th victory overall versus Cascade, Corban improves to 2-17 overall, 1-7 in Cascade Collegiate Conference action.

(SALEM) - Sophomore Wade Douglas scored a game-high 24 points as Corban's men's basketball team snapped a 13-game losing streak with an 80-70 victory over the Thunderbirds of Cascade on Friday to secure its first conference win of the season.

After falling behind 9-2 in the opening 3:07, Corban battled back to within two points (13-11) thanks to a 9-4 run over a span of 3:33.

Trailing by seven (26-19), sophomore Kyle Masten kick started Corban's come back when he converted on an unconventional 4-point play to pull the Warriors within four (26-22) with 7:02 remaining in the opening half.

Steigleman Records Game Highs in Victory Over Cascade, 65-46

(SALEM) - Corban junior guard Jessica Steigleman scored a game-high 17 points and pulled down a game-high 9 rebounds, as Corban's women's basketball team extended its winning streak to four games thanks to a 65-46 victory over the Lady Thunderbirds of Cascade on Friday.

Corban began the scoring early and never turned back as they held the lead for the entire game.

With 16:13 left in the first half, senior Jessi Norton knocked down a jumper off an assist from senior Tosha Wilson that gave Corban a 10-2 advantage.

No. 3 Gators Nip Oregon State

The Beavers host California next week at Gill Coliseum, Friday, January 19th starting at 7:00 PM.

(Gainesville, Fla.) - Oregon State opened the 2007 season with a solid all-around performance and sophomore Jami Lanz was her usual steady self, finishing second in the all-around against No. 3 Florida Friday night.

The Beavers got off to a shaky start before steadying out and fighting to its solid season-opening score against the Gators losing 193.800-196.850.

Despite a pair of falls on the uneven bars during the first rotation, the Beavers’ score of 193.800 took OSU until week three to achieve in 2006.

Oregon's Dieskova And Olivos Upset in Weather Shortened First Round

If the weather allows, the Ducks will play one round of singles and one round of doubles Saturday afternoon.

(LAS VEGAS) - The third seeded pair of Dominika Dieskova and Ana Cecilia Olivos fell in the first round of the Freeman Memorial Tennis Championships, as the rest of the tournament was delayed by weather Friday at the Fertita Tennis Complex on the campus of the UNLV.

With a rare winter storm moving into the valley and temperatures dipping into the 30s, the schedule for the opening day of the tournament was shortened, with only a single round of doubles being played.

Dieskova and Olivos were upset by the UNLV pair of Elena Gantcheva and Kristina Nedeltchev, 8-2.

Free Throws Lift Cavaliers to 74-64 Victory Over Warner Pacific

Denise Benedict led the Cavaliers with 21 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists.

(PORTLAND) - Concordia made 22 of 24 free throws in the second half, including 13-14 in the final two minutes, to claim a 74-64 victory over Warner Pacific in a Cascade Collegiate Conference women's basketball game tonight in Cavalier Gymnasium.

Concordia improved to 6-15 overall, 2-6 in the conference, while Warner Pacific now stands at 7-11 overall and is 3-5 in the conference.

The two teams battled to a 31-31 tie after the first half.

Bruins Bite Bearcats, 72-35

Keilyn Fujioka and Kari Woody led the Bearcats with nine points and seven rebounds apiece.

(NEWBERG) - Keyed by a 23-0 run midway through the first half, the George Fox University Bruins guaranteed themselves part of a three-way share of first place in the Northwest Conference with a 72-35 victory over the Willamette University Bearcats in women’s basketball action Friday night at the Wheeler Sports Center’s Miller Gym.

George Fox improved to 8-4 overall with its fourth straight win and 4-1 in the conference, while Willamette dropped to 3-11 overall and 1-4 in the league.

Thirteen of the 15 Bruins who played scored, led by Behary’s 12, all on three-pointers, and 10 by Melissa Marek-Farris.
