Western Oregon's Boss Named to All-America Squad

Tight end is selected to d2football.com second team

(MONMOUTH) - Western Oregon senior tight end Kevin Boss was named today to the second team of the d2football.com All-American team.

Boss had 33 catches, five touchdowns and 403 yards in receptions, despite playing only six games before his season ended with a shoulder injury.

The 6-7, 255-pounder was a four-year starter for the Wolves and leaves the program fourth in career touchdown catches with 19.

NASCAR Fans, Drivers Remember Bobby Hamilton as a Fighter, Champion

“He will be greatly missed as a husband, a father, a grandfather, an owner and a friend,” said the Hamilton family.

(NASHVILLE) - Bobby Hamilton Racing is saddened to announce that its owner Bobby Hamilton Sr. passed away Sunday afternoon at his home in Nashville, Tennessee from complications of Cancer.

He was 49.

Hamilton was first diagnosed with the disease a year ago.

A non-smoker, Hamilton went public with his battle with cancer at a March press conference at Atlanta Motor Speedway.

Former Kansas Player Added to Oregon State Roster

As a prep player, C.J Giles was a heavily recruited prospect out of Rainier Beach High School in Seattle, where he was the 2004 Seattle Metro MVP and the runner-up for state player of the year honors.

(CORVALLIS) - C.J. Giles has transferred to Oregon State and is joining the men’s basketball program, head coach Jay John announced Monday.

Giles, a 6-foot-11, 240-pound center originally from Seattle, is transferring from Kansas.

Giles played two seasons at national powerhouse Kansas, which appeared in the NCAA Tournament both years.

Oregon State Comes Up Short at USC, 59-51

The Beavers head home to face No. 13 ranked Arizona State on Thursday.

(LOS ANGELES) - Oregon State freshman forward Judie Lomax matched her career-high with 18 points, but the Beavers dropped a 59-51 decision at University of Southern California in Sunday’s Pac-10 Conference women’s basketball action.

USC (9-7 overall; 3-3 Pac-10) led by as many as 10 points (37-27) in the early going of the second half, but Oregon State (6-7 overall; 1-3 Pac-10) fought its way back into the game.

The Beavers narrowed the margin to two points on several occasions -- the last coming on a pair of Casey Nash free throws to make the score 50-48 with 5:29 remaining.

Oregon State Splits Wrestling Duals

The Beavers’ 14-meet winning streak had been OSU’s longest since another 14-meet streak during the 1985-86 season.

(CEDAR FALLS, Iowa) - Oregon State saw its win streak end at 14 dual meets when the Beavers were beaten by 18th-ranked Tennessee-Chattanooga 21-12 on Sunday afternoon, then OSU bounced back to beat host Northern Iowa 25-16 in non-conference wrestling at the McLeod Center.

Oregon State (8-1 overall, 2-0 Pacific-10) and Northern Iowa both received votes in this week’s National Wrestling Coaches Association poll; OSU had beaten 17th-ranked Nebraska 21-15 on Friday night.

The Beavers return home to meet Cal State-Fullerton in a Pacific-10 dual next Sunday at 2:00 PM at Gill Coliseum after Sunday’s split.

UCLA Comeback Dooms Oregon, 77-70

The Bruins shot 41 percent for the game and held a 45-39 rebounding edge.

(LOS ANGELES) - The Oregon Ducks had their chances, but UCLA’s strong second half proved too difficult for the visitors to withstand in a 77-70 Pac-10 loss Sunday afternoon at Pauley Pavilion.

Senior Noelle Quinn and junior Lindsey Plumier shared the game-high with 21 points apiece for the Bruins (9-9 overall, 3-3 Pac-10) as UCLA overcame a six-point halftime deficit and outscored the Ducks (9-5 overall, 1-3 Pac-10) 46-33 after the break.

Senior Carolyn Ganes led Oregon with 20 points. Sophomore Tamika Nurse scored a career-high 18 and senior Cicely Oaks finished with 10.

Northwest University Defeats Corban College, 108-81

Corban was led by Kyle Masten with 20 points.

(KIRKLAND, Wash.) - #20 Northwest University defeated Corban College 108-81 in Cascade Conference play Saturday night.

Corban battled the Eagles for much of the first half without the services of starter, Wade Douglas, who was ill and did not make the trip north.

After several ties and lead changes, Northwest slowly pulled away from the younger and smaller Warriors to lead 50-29 at half time.

Saints Steal Win From Wolves, 74-73

Jacob Mitchell led the Wolves with 22 points and seven rebounds.

(MONMOUTH) - Jake Linton's two free throws gave Saint Martin's its first lead of the second half and gave the hosts a 74-73 win over Western Oregon on Saturday night at the SMU Pavilion.

The stunning win improved the Saints record to 4-8 on the season and 1-0 in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference. Western Oregon dropped to 5-8 on the year and 0-2 in GNAC play.

SMU had a brief lead in the first half (7-6), but otherwise Western Oregon controlled the lead the rest of the game.

Falcons Avoid Upset, Slip by Wolves, 61-57

WOU's Kori Seymour had 20 points to lead all scorers and Leada Berkey added 17.

(MONMOUTH) - Seattle Pacific led the entire second half but still had to withstand a inspired Western Oregon upset bid before holding on for 61-57 women's basketball win on Saturday night at the Physical Education Building.

The win improved the Falcons record to 8-4 overall and 2-0 in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference.

Western Oregon dropped to 1-12 on the year and 0-2 in conference play
