(PALO ALTO, Calif.) - For the second straight weekend, the Oregon State men’s soccer team lost 2-0 to Stanford, as the visiting Beavers were beaten in Pacific-10 Conference action on Sunday afternoon at Maloney Field.
There were few scoring opportunities in the game, as Oregon State (5-9-1, 0-7) had only five shots, while Stanford (6-5-3, 4-1-1) had six. The Beavers had a 5-3 edge on corner kicks.
The game was scoreless at halftime, but Scott Bolkan put the Cardinal in front in the 60th minute when he headed in a pass from Galen Thompson. Evan Morgan made it 2-0 in the 75th minute as he scored on a long shot attempt from the left side.

(EUGENE) - Oregon Game Notes: Saturday’s crowd of 58,618 is the fourth-largest crowd ever to watch a game at Oregon . It also marks Oregon = s 45th consecutive sellout at Autzen Stadium.
Head Coach Mike Bellotti is now 6-5 all-time vs. UCLA. This is Oregon 's first win over UCLA in Autzen Stadium since a 29-10 win in 2000.
Oregon rushed for 256 yards in the game Saturday. Entering the game, the Bruins had allowed just 50 yards of rushing per game. The Ducks also scored 30 points today and UCLA was allowing just 12.4 points per game entering Saturday's contest.

(PORTLAND) - The Portland Winter Hawks came from 3-0 down in the third period and put a scare into the defending US Division Champion Everett Silvertips, but came up just short, dropping a 3-2 decision Saturday at the Everett Events Center.
Colton Sceviour and Viktor Sjodin scored third period goals for Portland and Frazer McLaren got a dangerous shot away in the final seconds.
Kyle Beech, Peter Mueller and Jason Fransoo scored for Everett. Portland goalie Kurtis Mucha was brilliant early as Everett came out flying in the first ten minutes of the game, Mucha holding the fort.

(CORVALLIS) - For the second time this weekend, the Oregon State women’s soccer team couldn’t convert any of its scoring chances, and the Beavers suffered a 1-0 defeat to Washington in a Pacific-10 Conference game on Sunday afternoon at Lorenz Field.
On a windy and rainy day, Katie Hall scored on a fluky 45-yard free kick in the 17th minute to lead the Huskies (6-8-0, 1-2) over the Beavers (8-5-2, 1-3). OSU also lost 1-0 at home on Friday to Washington State.
“Again, we came away with nothing result-wise,” OSU Coach Steve Fennah said. “Obviously it was a disappointment. I thought we did the right thing a lot of the game. We gave up a very soft goal and that allowed Washington to sit in a little bit. The unfortunate thing about the goal is we gave it away at a time when we were playing pretty well.”

Whitman moved to 3-4-4 overall, including 3-3-4 in the NWC. (SALEM) - In recent games, Willamette University defender Kelsey Rogel, a 5’11 sophomore, has joined the attack for corner kicks and offensive restarts.
On Sunday at Sparks Field, the move paid off, as Rogel kicked in the tying goal with 8:07 left in regulation, as the Bearcats and Whitman College battled to a 1-1 tie in the Northwest Conference.
The Missionaries, who lost to Willamette, 1-0, in Walla Walla, Wash., on Sept. 16th, took a 1-0 lead in the rematch when Kristen Berndt scored on a 4-yard shot following a corner kick pass sent on the ground into the penalty area. Berndt shot from the right side to record her fifth goal of the season at 54:01.

(MONMOUTH) - Western Oregon celebrated its final home match of the 2006 season with its first victory in conference play, topping Central Washington 2-0 on a windy and wet Sunday afternoon at the WOU soccer field.
The victory moved WOU's overall mark to 8-7-2, and they are now 1-5-1 in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference. The Wildcats dropped to 5-8-3 on the season and to 0-5-2 in the GNAC.
The Wolves scored once in the first half and again in the second in picking up the win. Aly Reamer got the hosts on the board at 23:16 mark, taking a corner kick from Liorah Riutzel that bounced off the goalkeeper, knocking it back into the goal.

(SALEM) - The Oregon School for the Deaf hosted their first of what will be an annual Volleyball Invitational on Friday October 13th and Saturday October 14th. The Eddyville Eagles won the final showdown of the six female volleyball teams from as close as Falls City to as far away as Idaho.
Playing in the two-day tournament were the Oregon School for the Deaf Panthers, Idaho School for the Deaf and Blind Raptors, Washington School for the Deaf Lady Terriers, Eddyville Charter School Eagles, Perrydale Pirates, and the Falls City Mountaineers.

(SPOKANE, Wash.) - Nicole Vander Meulen provided 13 kills and Angie Florence added 11 kills, leading Whitworth College to a 30-22, 30-14, 30-28 victory over Willamette University in a Northwest Conference contest Saturday at Whitworth Fieldhouse.
Jessica Durham earned nine kills and 12 digs for Willamette. Mary Butler contributed eight kills, while Alona Lyamin led the Bearcats with 16 digs. Julie Stutzman and Jessica Drumm produced 12 digs apiece. Drumm also registered 14 assists, while Brittany Ashby supplied 11 assists.
The Pirates led 13-9 and 16-11 in the first game, before gradually achieving a 30-22 win. Whitworth held the Bearcats to five kills in the second game to take a 2-0 lead in the match.

(SALEM) - After trailing 27-6 late in the third quarter, the Willamette University Bearcats rallied to within one touchdown and a two-point conversion before the University of Puget Sound grabbed an onside kick in the final minute to secure the Loggers’ a 34-26 victory in a Northwest Conference game Saturday night at McCulloch Stadium.
The win gave UPS a 4-2 overall record, including 1-2 in the NWC, while Willamette dropped to 1-5 overall, 1-2 in the conference.
Led by three rushing touchdowns by quarterback Kavin Williams in the first half and a 35-yard fumble return by cornerback Brycen Bye in the third quarter, the Loggers built their 21-point lead.
