Salem-News.com Sports (September 23, 2006 15:44)Nevada Nips Oregon, 2-1 Salem-News.com SPORTSOregon next faces Idaho Sunday at 1:00 PM at Pape’ Field. (EUGENE) - Lauren Kinneman’s goal in the 85th minute lifted Nevada to a 2-1 victory over Oregon Friday in front of 671 at Pape’ Field. Kinneman, who also assisted on the Wolf Pack’s first goal, took a header from Aivi Luik and knocked in the game-winner from six yards out.
"There were a lot of tears after this one because we let one slip away," said Oregon coach Tara Erickson. "Nevada is good enough to win their conference and this was an opportunity to beat a quality team. I did think that we possessed the ball more than the other team and that was apparent probably in the chances that we created on goal, but we didn’t capitalize on that final chance."
The Wolf Pack improved to 5-2-1 on the season, including 3-0-1 on the road. The Ducks fell to 4-4-0 as their four-game winning streak came to an end.
